Inside the building, 5th floor.
"Anyway, call me when he isn't home~" Kael winked at Rosy flirtatiously.
"Speak softly!" Rosy whisper-shouted shyly, "And I can't." she showed the no signal sign.
"Sad. Tell that little twerp to tell me when his dad isn't home. So that his daddy can come home instead." Kael smirked.
Rosy blushed and shook her head, "I can't with you. How are you so calm even when…" her voice trailed off when she looked out of the window, "This is happening."
"He isn't calm." Cathy climbed the stairs, her face impassive, "He is using his stupid defense mechanism to hide his real feelings behind a mask, like a pathetic coward."
"Catherine Hart." Kael turned towards the busty young beauty.
"Kael Mercer." Catherine matched his gaze, even when she was 5 inches shorter than him, "Stop it."
"Why-" Kael took a deep breath, "Why the hell is everyone so stuck up on me, huh Cath? What's your problem if I want to take the tough times like a joke and not get depressed like you and that smartpants?"
"I don't have a problem with you toughening it up, Kael. I have a problem with you brushing the serious business off." Cathy glanced at Rosy, "Is this REALLY the time to be fucking around?"
"Yeah. It is." Kael scoffed, "If UNA doesn't send help, we might end up dying in a ditch down here. Might as well enjoy it, no?"
Cathy glared at Kael, "You say you take tough times like a joke, but do you know something, Kael? You are more of a joke. You are the biggest negative and emotional man I ever met, who hides behind a face mask of uncaringness."
"Thanks for your kind words, did Felix tell you to say that?" Kael smiled.
"No, he isn't here. He left already to find a solution, Kael. He isn't the one who fuck around when shit gets real, it's you." Cathy scoffed.
"Hey, what's going on out here? Who is this man, Rosy?"
Caught in their argument, Kael had forgotten that Rosy was a married woman and her husband… a 6'5 Gym Instructor, was still inside the house.
'Oh shit…' Kael cursed in his mind.

On a muddy road, Felix was walking with his hands in his pocket.
He had thought long and hard about going out of the house, especially when the threat of that saber-toothed cat was still fresh in his mind.
'It's fine, it's way too far to come here, right?' Felix consoled himself, 'Even if it somehow comes, what are the chances that it attacks me? The signal tower is in the opposite direction of that bastard, so if it attacks, the town will burst into chaos and I can hide in the meantime.'
But looking around, Felix shook his head.
The town was bustling with activity, citizens ran to the roads, shouting and panicking while some people maniacally climbed their roofs, trying to get some signal on their phones.
"Dumb." Felix scoffed, if getting a signal down here was so easy, he would have already contacted the police by now.
Suddenly, a feminine cry filled his ears.
"Hello! Does anyone have a power bank?? My phone's battery just died, please!" the girl was a young petite beauty, sobbing to gain some sympathy.
'Battery… Shit! How will we get power down here?!' Felix was shocked, he hadn't thought of that issue before, but thinking of it now, it made sense. In the ground down here, there was likely no way of getting diesel, which meant the generator couldn't be used.
The wires and electricity connections all snapped or stopped working since their town was submerged in the ground. Which only meant one thing, the power might deplete soon.
Felix instantly took out his phone and saw it was charged 83%. He sighed in relief and placed it on ultra power saving mode.
He heard the girl's cries again, but Felix dipped his head and left promptly.
He didn't have any power bank on him at the moment, and even if he did, he wasn't dumb enough to waste it on a completely unknown girl.
After a brief 15-minute walk, Felix reached his destination.
A huge metallic tower was propped up in the corner of the town, situated barely on the boundary to be called the part of the town.
The cell tower was 20 meters tall, built out of metallic alloy, and embedded with multiple radar dishes, which were connected by a messy bunch of wires. All the wires were connected to a small control box at the base of the tower.
"WHERE IS MR. KARL?! WE NEED TO FIX IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!"
"Fuck no connection!"
"Tower is broken!"
"Help my son is stuck under the bricks! Please help!!!!"
Felix heard a few screams from the nearby townspeople, most of them had a similar idea as him of connecting calls through the cell tower.
Beside the cell tower, a two-storey shack was erected. The shack used to belong to the town's best electrician, Mr Karl. Alas, the earthquake had caused the shack to collapse.
One of its walls and pillars had crumbled, and the heavy rubble of the shack crushed the control box of the cell tower, causing some wires to snap and lose functionality.
Felix took out his phone, hoping that the cell tower was still working. But unluckily, it wasn't.
He heard a couple talking behind him.
"I heard Mr Karl was in the basement when the earthquake came. I just hope he is alive!" a middle-aged woman gossiped.
"Oh my god! That's nothing! I heard that Mr Karl's wife and the younger child suffocated to death!" another woman waved her hand and told.
"Oh no! What about the elder child?"
"Eh, who knows? My husband went in to find Mr Karl. Maybe he will find that notorious twerp too."
"I hope they both are alright…"
Felix tuned out the rest of the conversation. He figured that Mr Karl had a chance to survive, even when his shack had fully collapsed. Maybe he hid under something in the basement?
Felix joined his hand and prayed silently, hoping that Karl was alive. As the only one with knowledge as an electrician, Karl's skills were indispensable
"Guys you should fix this stupid tower faster. My mother's boyfriend is in the military, I can call him for help." a young man boasted nearby.
"Ohhh, you never mentioned you got a stepdad!"
"Don't call him my stepdad, bastard! He gives me creeps! He is lowkey kinda gay but mom likes him for his money, I guess."
Felix chuckled at the young man and took a step forward, hoping to help the neighbors in the search.
But the next second, his steps halted.
The color from his face was drained and his body went stiff. Goosebumps began to slither over his skin like snakes.
Near the tower, a creature stood on its fours.
*Graaaaah!*
It's jaws parted and a very loud guttural scream tore the sky, throwing the entire neighborhood into panic.
