Bab 56: Appreciating the Feeling of Having a Family
Hub World, Earth, Japan, Tokyo.
As soon as the time restarted in the world, Sumire opened her eyes. Then, she expanded her senses to cover the entire apartment. While Mai was sleeping soundly and muttering about Tatsuo in her sleep, Kasumi was studying. Meanwhile, Tatsuo had just climbed into bed after picking himself up from his bedroom floor.
"Finally, my Tatsu-Chan is back." Sumire said happily. "And thanks to my connection with my main body, I know that he got quite a bit stronger."
Reaching that point, Sumire sat up and smiled brightly. Then, she waited until she could feel that Tatsuo had fallen asleep before quietly leaving her room and sneaking into her son's room to watch him sleep.
Scatter Cherry Blossoms Universe, Underworld, Alaverus Territory, Alaverus Estate.
At the same time, in an alternate universe of the High School DxD world, a young man, appearing to be about nineteen years old sat next to a crib while cradling a beautiful baby girl. Although he seemed to be playing with the girl, who was no more than a month old, his attention was split.
["Are you really talking to people from a different universe?"] Ddraig, the soul of a long dead red dragon asked from the young man's soul. ["Are you sure they're not just people from outside the Dimensional Gap?"]
"Ddraig, you've had unrestricted access to my memories for how long now?" The young man, James Sataniel, one of the five leaders of a race of supernatural beings called Devils, replied while rocking the little girl, his younger sister, Aaliyah Alaverus, in his arms.
James was an athletically built young man with caramel-colored skin standing at 6'3" with black hair styled into cornrows and brown eyes with dusk pink outlining his irises wearing a navy blue polo shirt and a pair of denim shorts.
["Yeah, and that's why I can't believe this is real."] Ddraig replied. ["The only time I've seen stuff like this was when you were reading fan fictions written by Issei-level horn dogs from your past life."]
"That's kind of harsh, Ddraig." James said with a chuckle. "There's no way there are that many Issei-level perverts in the multiverse, right?"
At that moment, Aaliyah scrunched up her cute little face and started to tremble. Then, a rather distinct odor could be smelled. After that, she started to cry.
"Well, I guess someone needs to be changed." James said with a smile, as if the smell did not bother him in the slightest.
"James! Is Aaliyah alright?" A woman's voice echoed from down the hall.
"Yeah, she's fine, Mom." James replied. "I think she just took a poo. I was just about to change her."
A moment later, a tall, about 5'9" tall woman looking to be in her late twenties walked into the room. This woman was beautiful, had a curvaceous figure, mocha-colored skin, long black hair tied into a pony tail with bangs covering the right side of her face, and brown eyes.
"Don't worry about it, Sweetie." the woman, James' mother, Leona Alaverus, said as she approached James with her arms stretched out. "I'll change her. Besides, it's almost time to give Aaliyah a bath. So, I'll just do both."
James was clearly struggling with the thought of letting go of his little sister. But in the end, he carefully handed her to his mother.
"*Sigh* I get the feeling you're going to be a sis-con on a higher level than Sirzechs." Leona said after seeing the struggle in her son's eyes. It should also be noted that there was a note of disgust in her tone when Leona mentioned the name Sirzechs. "I really feel sorry for any boys who wanna get close to little Aaliyah. You're one of the world's five strongest beings, after all."
"Hmph! If they can't pass my test, they don't deserve to get close to our princess, anyway." Jame said after snorting defiantly.
In response, Leona only shook her head.
"Anyway, you should get back to Kyoto." Leona said as she turned to leave the room. "Flora called a few minutes ago asking when you would be back. You have to work on a project with your classmates, right?"
"*Sigh* Why did I decide to even go to University?" James said as he stood up after sighing in exasperation. "After taking Venelana's classes as a kid, my educational standard is already above the undergraduate level."
Despite grumbling in annoyance, James created a [Teleportation Magic Circle] under his feet before teleporting to Kyoto in the Human World. All the while, he continued to chat with the members of the [Dimensional Chat] using the interface in his head.
Metal and Threads Universe, Earth Land, Ishgar, Kingdom of Fiore, the Village Hidden in the Leaves.
Like James, Alfonzo and Elicia were also excited to be experiencing such a fan fiction-like development. However, because they were sharing a bed with a few of the women in Alfonzo's harem, they were much more subdued.
"Fonzie, that James guy said he's one of the Five Great Satans of the Underworld." Elicia said quietly. "There should only be four, though. I wonder what other changes there are in his world."
"Who knows." Alfonzo replied. "I mean, Issei Hyoudou isn't even the Red Dragon Emperor in that world. So, the changes must be huge."
"Plus, he said he has a pretty big harem." Elicia said. "I wonder which girls he got. Since he's the Red Dragon Emperor, he probably got Rias, right?"
"I'm not sure." Alfonzo said while shaking his head gently. "I mean, I doubt he got schemed on to join her peerage like that guy did. So, we have no way of knowing what the situation is over there."
"*Sigh* I know you're right." Elicia replied in frustration. She was so curious about other worlds and how they've changed that she could hardly stand it. "By the way, did you notice?"
"Notice what?" Alfonzo asked curiously.
"He said his world seemed to have a bunch of characters that did not belong there." Elicia said with a bit of excitement in her tone. "But he didn't seem to know."
"Now that you mention it, that was kind of weird." Alfonzo muttered. "But we shouldn't dig into his secret."
"I know." Elicia replied with a nod. "Anyway, it sounds like his world is filled with crossovers, just like ours. I wonder who's there."
"We'll just have to ask him about it later." Alfonzo said with a smile.
"Mmm... What are you guys talking about?" A tall woman with long, dark brown hair, tan skin, and purple eyes asked in a sleepy tone.
Hearing that, Alfonzo and Elicia exchanged glances.
"OH, Fonzie woke me up when he got up to go to the bathroom." Elicia said with a smile. "And we were just talking a little since he fell asleep before we got back from showing the others around. Sorry for waking you up, Cana. We'll go back to sleep now."
"*Yawn~~~~~* Okay." The brown-haired woman, Cana Alberona, replied a she rolled over to go back to sleep. "Oh, before you go to sleep, can you hand me that bottle on the nightstand."
Alfonzo and Elicia smiled at Cana's usual behavior. Meanwhile, they continued to chat in the [Dimensional Chat] while conversing with each other using Alfonzo's [Telepathy].
ICDS Univrse, Earth, Japan, Tokyo.
Meanwhile, Sumire's reactions were the most normal out of the new additions to the [Dimensional Chat]. As the only member of the [Dimensional Chat] without memories of a past life, she just found everything so fantastical. But more important than any of that...
"I can talk to Tatsuo-Kun every day." Sumire said happily while browsing through the [Dimensional Chat's] [Shop]. "And when I have enough coins, I can buy a ticket to travel between universes."
However, Sumire could not help sighing after she saw the price listed in the shop.

"*Sigh* And I only got 56 Coins from my first daily drawing." Sumire lamented. "Now I understand why Tatsuo-Kun said it would take him some resources. I wonder how many Coins he has, though. He said he's had the [Dimensional Chat] for almost a week, right? He should at least have enough to come over for a weekend, right?"
If Sumire knew that Tatsuo had hundreds of thousands of Coins, she would probably be asking him to visit every day.
"Still, this is really interesting." Sumire muttered as she continued to read the conversation between James, Alfonzo, and Elicia. "I wonder what their worlds are like? I really wanna visit all their worlds in the future."
Like that, the four new [Dimensional Chat] members continued to chat for the next few hours.
Hub World, Earth, Japan, Tokyo.
The following morning, Tatsuo opened his eyes when his alarm went off at 6 AM. And the first thing he saw after stopping his alarm was his mother. She was lying on her side in his bed, with her hair down and supporting her head with her right hand while smiling at her son.
"Tatsu-Chan, you're awake!" Sumire said as she flung herself at Tatsuo and hugged him tightly. "For some reason, Mom missed you so much when she woke up."
Hearing that, Tatsuo looked at his mother skeptically. However, he did not say anything in the end. Instead, he returned her hug.
"Yeah, I think I know what you mean." Tatsuo said softly. "For some reason, I miss you a lot, too."
Although she was slightly surprised that Tatsuo hugged her back, as he usually showed annoyance when she ambushed him in the morning like this, she smiled brightly when she felt his arms hugging her tightly.
"This is new." Sumire said happily. "Not that Mommy is complaining. But what brought this on."
"I don't know." Tatsuo replied quietly. "I guess I just realized how nice it is to have a family."
After saying that, Tatsuo looked up with flames burning in his eyes.
"And I'll make anyone who wants to take it away from me suffer." Tatsuo said coldly. "And DOATECH will be the prime example."
Hearing that, Sumire smiled brightly. Then, she ruined the solemn atmosphere by rubbing Tatsuo's head vigorously.
"My Tatsu-Chan is such a good boy!" Sumire squealed excitedly. "Mommy is so proud of you!"
Immediately, Tatsuo's imposing manner dissipated. He then looked at his mother helplessly.
Eventually, Tatsuo was able to separate himself from Sumire's embrace. Then, he went to take a shower and started getting ready for school.
After he was dressed and ready to go, Tatsuo left his room to have breakfast in the kitchen. Along the way, he ran into Kasumi, who smiled at him gently.
"Good morning, Tatsuo-Kun." Kasumi said in a doting tone. "Did you sleep well?"
"Yeah, I slept okay?" Tatsuo replied. "How 'bout you, Kasumi-Neesan?"
"I slept pretty well, too." Kasumi replied. "And it looks like you awakened your supernatural powers last night. Congratulations."
The supernatural was nothing new to the residents of the Soramoto residence, as both Mai and Kasumi each had a special ability related to space, with Mai having some kind of storage ability and Kasumi having a [blink] ability like Tatsuo. Though, Kasumi's blink was accompanied by falling cherry blossom petals.
"Thanks." Tatsuo said with a smile. "I awakened a space ability like yours. Now I can [Blink], too. But mine doesn't have any cherry blossoms."
"Well, I don't really think the cherry blossoms would suit you, anyway." Kasumi said with a chuckle.
Like that, the two continued to chat as they made their way to the kitchen. When they arrived, Tatsuo and Kasumi saw Sumire sitting at the kitchen table reading the news on a tablet. And when she heard their footsteps, she raised her head. Then, she smiled at her children.
"Good morning, Kasumi." Sumire said while maintaining her smile.
"Good morning, Sumire-Sama." Kasumi said with a smile as she bowed politely. "I hope you slept well."
"*Sigh* Kasumi, dear…" Sumire said as her smile turned a bit helpless. "It's already been a year and a half since you started living with me, right? How many times do I have to tell you, you don't have to be so polite. I'm not expecting you to call me mom, or anything like that. But we're family now."
While Kasumi was touched by Sumire's words, she insisted on being so respectful. If it weren't for Sumire, she would still be on the run, constantly trying to avoid the ninja from her clan. And when that failed, she would have to fight and, possibly, kill. Though, as a trained kunoichi, she was not afraid of killing, she would rather avoid that fate.
At that moment, Mai, carrying a platter filled with four plates of breakfast approached the kitchen table.
"Sumire-Sama, breakfast is ready." Mai said with a smile as she placed the platter on the table.
At the same time, Tatsuo and Kasumi also took their seats. And when Mai saw that, her eyes lit up. Then, without serving the food, she ran around the table and hugged Tatsuo from behind, burying the back of his head between her rather sizable assets.
"Tetsu-Kun! Good morning." Mai squealed happily. "did you sleep well? You didn't have any nightmares, did you? Maybe your Mai-Nee should sleep with you tonight."
"No, that's alright, Mai-Nee." Tatsuo said while rubbing the back of his head between Mai's breasts. "I slept pretty well last night. Thanks for the offer, though."
Tatsuo's reaction completely surprised Mai. Usually when she sneak attacked Tatsuo with a hug, he would do all he could to get away from her as quickly as possible. Yet, he actually nuzzled his head against her this time.
Even so, Mai was elated. So, she started squealing even louder while tightening her hug.
Kasumi was also taken aback when she saw the change in Tatsuo's attitude. But she smiled all the same. She had no idea why Tatsuo's attitude changed, but she was happy to see him feeling more at home with his family.
For the next few seconds, Mai continued to squeal happily while rubbing her body on Tatsuo more seductively as time went by. But Sumire eventually put an end to that.
"Mai, sit down and eat." Sumire said in a stern, yet exasperated tone. "Tatsu-Chan and Kasumi have to go to school soon. You don't want them to be late, do you?"
"Yes, Ma'am." Mai replied as she reluctantly released Tatsuo.
However, before she walked away, Mai's eyes lit up. Then, without shame, she took a step forward before flopping down in Tatsuo's lap and wrapping her arms around his neck.
"I'll sit here." Mai said as if she had found a new continent. "I'll feed Tatsu-Kun, too. That way, he won't have to get his hands dirty before going to school."
After saying that, Mai nodded to herself, proud of her good idea.
"Mai. Shiranui. Get. Up. And. Sit. In. your. Own. Seat. Right. Now." Sumire said, putting emphasis on every word.
In response, Mai pouted. However, she had no intention of going against Sumire's orders. So, she got up unhappily before moving around the table to her own seat. Then, she served everyone's breakfast before taking her own seat.
After that, the meal went by peacefully with lively chatter all around. Then, once the meal was finished, Mai took the dishes to the kitchen and when she returned, she was carrying a pair of boxed lunches, which were intended for Tatsuo and Kasumi to take to school.
After receiving Mai's lunch boxes, Tatsuo and Kasumi bid their farewells and left for school. Meanwhile, Sumire and Mai did whatever they did while Tatsuo and Kasumi were away at school.
