Bab 1: Goldy

I drowsily awoke to the gentle touch of a hand on my shoulder, pulling me from a deep sleep. The sound of hoofbeats filled my ears. At first, the light was too bright, making me squint. As I moved, I felt surprisingly light and agile.

It felt strange yet oddly familiar.

When I brought my hands to rub the sleep from my eyes, I noticed they were smaller and softer than I remembered. I sat up slowly, confused, and felt a slight pain in my head.

Beside me sat a tall man in dark green clothing, smiling. He had a handsome, youthful face with a wispy mustache, silver-gold hair, and dark purple eyes that seemed almost black.

Purple eyes?

A feature that seemed almost fantastical. Yet, it felt oddly familiar, as if I had seen it every day.

"Wake up, young lad!" the man cheerfully ruffled my hair. "I'm taking you to the Dragonpit, as I promised." He said as the hoofbeats of the carriage stopped.

"Here we are!" he added happily.

Still dazed and trying to grasp the reality of my situation, he lifted me onto his shoulders and carried me out of the carriage.

How!? Why am I so little!? Am I dreaming?

A headache and confusion washed over me, but the latter quickly turned to amazement as I beheld a giant domed castle. My gaze was drawn to the colossal doors, crafted from bronze and iron, gleaming shine in the sunlight.

As he carried me out of the carriage, I noticed a group of guards outside. Among them, two knights in shining white armor caught my eye. They bowed their heads and quietly followed us up the stone stairs. Everything seemed larger, making me wonder if I had become a child.

I looked at the man again. I was certain I had never met him before. The strong scent of wine emanating from him was so overpowering that it made me feel dizzy.

We arrived at the bronze doors, and the sight triggered a faint memory, but I couldn't quite place it. The more I tried to remember, the more my head hurt.

When the doors opened, I saw that the inside was massive with sunlight streaming through the windows, casting a warm glow on the stone walls. The knights did not follow us inside.

Then, a sharp pain struck me in the head. My vision blurred, and a ringing in my ears grew louder. The pain was so intense that I closed my eyes and clung to the man for support. The man said something, but the ringing drowned out his words.

I didn't know how long it lasted, but the pain gradually faded as the man stopped walking.

"What is wrong, son? Don't be afraid." He comforted me as he gently patted my back.

I felt the warmth and the hot breath of something enormous close behind me.

"Greetings, Sunfyre." He warmly greeted, smiling.

The words triggered a sudden rush of memories that flooded my mind.

Sunfyre?

I turned around…

and I saw a golden dragon.

Its golden scales gleamed in the torchlight, and its majestic pink wings were folded at its sides. Its green eyes glowed like emeralds, and the warm breeze I felt came from its powerful yet gentle breath, which caressed my face as its stood close in front of me

Sunfyre, the Golden, was right in front of me.

My blood ran cold as I recognized the golden dragon on his dark green doublet.

Silver-haired… purple eyes…

This is a feature of a Targaryen…

Don't tell me…

"Jaehaerys? Are you alright?" the man who must be Aegon II asked with concern.

I slowly looked at my left hand, trembling like a leaf, and was horrified to see that it had six fingers.

Then I felt a warm touch on my cheek.

It was Sunfyre, gently nudging me with his nose.

That was the last thing I saw before darkness embraced me once again.

-——-

Amidst the darkness, I saw a pale little boy without a head, blood oozing from his wounded neck. A white lamb's head rested where his own should have been, its eyes tearing blood.

He pointed his small finger behind me. From behind, I smelled a soft scent of lavender, urging me to turn.

When I did, I saw a woman in a black dress, her face shrouded by a black veil. The lower part of her body was that of a spider. Red ribbons extended from her nails. Even though I couldn't see her face, I knew she was staring at me. Then, thousands of spiders clawed out of her black veil and rushed toward me, their tiny legs clawing onto every part of me.

Then I woke up.

I was greeted by a beautifully ornate ceiling, finding myself in a familiar luxurious room, yet never seen before. The sheets were soft, and the bed was too, far too good to be my own. As I sat up quickly, my heart pounded in my chest. Beads of sweat glistened on my forehead as I looked at my hands and found my left hand still had six fingers.

This can't be real…

I rushed to a nearby mirror, only to be greeted by the reflection of a child staring back at me. My reflection revealed a child with neck-length silver hair, indigo eyes, and pale skin. I certainly looked like a Targaryen.

No…I'm dreaming, dreaming within a dream.

In a last-ditch effort, I slapped myself on the face, hoping that maybe I would wake up, but the sharp sting on my cheek only confirmed that this wasn't a dream.

How the hell did this happen!? How is this possible? Can I get back to Earth? I want to go home!

Just then, a soft giggle broke the silence, interrupting my thoughts. I turned around swiftly and saw Maelor, a little boy sitting in his cradle, smiling at me.

For some reason, his little smile made me feel relaxed.

Slowly, taking deep breaths, I sat down on my bed, trying to pull myself together.

It seems that I have become Jaehaerys Targaryen, son of Aegon II, who was killed in Blood and Cheese…

And I would prefer not to meet the same fate.

As the weight of my death bears down on me, a vision of a dragon flashed in my mind. It was Jaehaerys's dragon, Shrykos.

Wait! I have a dragon! I can fly away from all of this!

Suddenly, as I thought of leaving everything behind, a wave of sadness swept over me, so intense it felt like my heart was breaking apart, I had to clutch my chest to ease the pain. It felt as though I was truly abandoning my family.

What is this? They weren't even my family. My mother was a…

I tried to recall my mother's face, but it blurred and merged with Jaehaerys's. My mother couldn't had silver hair and purple eyes, and her name certainly wasn't Helaena.

The more I tried to remember, the worse my headache grew.

I tried to remember my name, my real name, but I couldn't. I only know that my name is Jaehaerys.

I was merged with him, wasn't I?

"Buh-thuh!" Maelor cheerfully interrupted my thoughts. I turned to see him reaching his little hand out to me. His lilac eyes met mine, a smile spreading across his face and revealing his small, pearly white teeth. The sight soothed my nerves, a result of my mind merging with Jaehaerys.

I knew then that leaving would be harder than I had expected.

Still, I couldn't help but walk over to him and gently rub his fat cheeks. Maelor looked up at me with a happy face, his eyes sparkling with joy. He giggled as I held his hand.

Then the door opened, and a serving girl entered the room. Her eyes widened at the sight of me, and she rushed over.

"My Prince! You have awakened!" She quickly checked to see if I was alright.

"Are you alright, My Prince?" she asked softly, with concern in her voice. She gently touched my forehead to check my temperature, her hand soft and warm.

"I am…fine." No, I am not.

She looked at me with concern in her light green eyes.

Another serving girl entered the room. The first girl turned to the second girl.

"Go tell the princess that the prince has awakened." The second girl nodded quickly and hurried out of the room.

I could ask her what year it is.

"What's your name?" I began. She looked surprised that I asked.

"My name is Lily, Your Grace." She reluctantly answered. Perhaps she didn't expect a prince to ask for a commoner's name.

"Lily, what ye-" before I could finish, a woman with long silver-gold hair burst in and hugged me, soon followed by a little girl who looked just like my reflection.

My memory tells me that the woman was Helaena and the girl was Jaehaera.

"You made me worry." Helaena said with concern in her voice as she hugged me. Jaehaera joined the hug, trying to wrap her small arms around us. Their embrace made me feel comfortable. It was warm and lovely.

Helaena smelled of sweet flowers and rosewater, with a hint of lavender. Her long silver-gold hair was as soft as silk, much like her mint green dress, which felt like a gentle caress against my skin. Its luxurious texture enveloped me in a warm soothing embrace.

Jaehaera, like her mother, also carried the scent of sweet flowers, but with a hint of lemon. Her face was a mirror image of my own, as if I were looking into a reflection, though her hair was longer than mine.

"Your father told me that you fainted." Helaena said gently, touching my cheek and looking into my eyes with her soft purple one.

"Perhaps I got up too fast." I tried to reassure her that it was nothing serious.

She looked doubtful at my answer. Well, I can't say that I got inserted into a child, can I?

"Or you were just too sleepy!" Jaehaera joked, turning to Maelor and booping his nose.

"Right, little brother?" Maelor nodded happily, though I don't think he understood.

Helaena turned to Lily. "Tell Aegon that our son has awakened." Lily bowed her head in acknowledgment and swiftly exited the room to carry out the order.

As the door closed behind Lily, I noticed the beauty of the deep purple and orange hues painting the evening sky, a sharp reminder that my time was running out.
