Even though He'dtaalh hadn't flown this style of runner in over a hundred solar rotations, the moment he sat down in the pilot's chair, everything quickly returned to him. Running through the preflight checklist, he hummed a song he heard Ariel singing the first time they had ever met.

"Are you going to tell me what is going on now?" asked Yaun'dcha softly as he ran through the preflight checklist on his side of the control panel.

"It's not for you to know," replied He'dtaalh, not really caring about the feelings or demands of his brother. Ariel was much too precious to do something stupid, like tell everyone about her. "But we might not make it back, so you might want to tell Zuhn'thian he needs to be prepared."

Yaun'dcha froze for a second and looked at his oldest brother. "Are you joking?" he asked after a few chwila. He really couldn't tell.
