Bab 22: Chapter 22 Pretending to Probe

Alan's influence is so vast that seeking help rashly might backfire. Unless she strikes a deal with Alan, he won't release Jason. But would Alan even negotiate with her?

Blanche's head was pounding almost to the point of splitting when Felix's call came through.

"Blanche, have you arrived at the company?" Felix asked.

Blanche didn't know how to respond. It felt like if she opened her mouth, the sobs in her throat would be unstoppable.

"Did you run into some trouble on the way?" Felix asked with concern.

Felix had always treated Blanche differently, not just because she had helped him in the past but also because she had perspectives and opinions that differed from most people.
