Bab 44: Maybe tonight

"Yeah," Valerie replied, her voice barely above a whisper. She rose from the couch and padded into the kitchen, her eyes fixed on Greg's back as he stood at the counter. For a fleeting moment, his posture and broad shoulders eerily reminded her of Gregory Sinclair's, sending a shiver down her spine.

The nagging feeling returned, more insistent than before. 'Could they be the same person?' she wondered. Deep down, she wished they were. She had started to grow sinful feelings for Gregory Sinclair too.

Valerie's heart skipped a beat at her own thought. She padded silently across the kitchen floor and wrapped her arms around her husband's waist to seek his comfort.

Embracing him from behind, she discreetly inhaled the familiar scent of his cologne. The aroma was comforting, yet her mind still whispered doubts, though it didn't smell like Gregory's.
