Bab 142: The Limits of Power

("These projectiles are getting heavier...")

The relentless barrage of compressed energy orbs continued to rain down on Shibahime. With each passing second, their numbers increased, and so did their weight. Unlike air, which was weightless, these orbs carried enough mass to inflict serious damage if they hit. Shibahime could feel it—her wooden sword might break if she had to block again.

(If I take another hit, this sword's done for. And with the projectiles multiplying... It's time to end this.)

She darted along the vertical wall, gracefully dodging the incoming attacks. With a quick stroke, she infused her wooden sword with a faint, glowing aura.

(Enchanting your sword now? That's a mistake.)

Akaya grinned, baring his teeth. He hadn't noticed the damage to her sword and couldn't understand her actions. But he did know one thing—she had just made a critical error.
