Bab 103: The Awakening of the Golden Tree

"Wait... could it really be that even I, the eternal level zero, could level up with this golden experience?"

"Let me show you how to open it, Akatani," Yakuzen-senpai said.

"Open it?" I questioned.

Yakuzen-senpai explained that the golden manhole-like thing I was holding was actually a box. To open it, I had to tap the center of the disk rapidly with my finger.

"You need to tap it 16 times per second," he added.

"That's a pretty annoying requirement," I muttered. Seriously, 16 times a second? That's hardcore.

"It's probably designed so you can't open it by accident during a trial—or perhaps to prevent you from eating it in the heat of the moment."

With Yakuzen-senpai watching, I began tapping the slightly indented center of the disk as fast as I could. After a few seconds, a soft "pssh" sound came from the golden experience, and the lid popped open. Inside were neatly arranged coins that shimmered in a radiant gold.
