East Street, the most prosperous commercial district in Bayside,
was home to many well-known enterprises.
The street where Aiden was accustomed to working in a small shop that looked like a
slum in comparison. On East Street, the monthly rent alone was $2,000 to $4,000, not to
mention all the other expenses of opening a business. To think that Mr. K actually
wanted to give such a valuable space to Aiden as a gift.
No one expected that Aiden would shake his head and refuse, Mr. K, you've already dug
me out a big hole. I can't accept another gift from you. To say that he wasn't interested
in the offer would be a straight up lie.
However, he wasn't a person who liked to owe favors. After all, favors could sometimes
be very troublesome. He can be so silly sometimes, exclaimed Clara.
She was tempted to push Aiden aside and accept the offer herself. Mr. K shook his head
and said, After saving Dora, even 10 stores wouldn't be enough to fully express my
gratitude. Seeing the hesitation in Aiden's eyes, he proposed another option.
How about this? I'll rent the space to you on the condition that you'll be exempt from
paying for the first 50 years. At this point, if you don't agree, I'm going to start to feel
offended. Mr. K wasn't actually angry, but Aiden felt like he had no choice but to agree.
Clara was bursting with excitement. 50 years of rent exempted? What was the difference
between that and giving the store away entirely? Then this matter is settled, Anthony K
said. As for the details, I'll get Ava to contact you later on.
It will take some time for us to move away the items currently in the store. Do you mind . waiting for a while? I certainly don't mind, Clara answered before Aiden could. Everyone
was stunned for a moment before bursting out in laughter.
Out of the corner of his eye, Aiden noticed that John K's hands were gripping his
stomach, and his brows would occasionally tighten in a pained expression. Aiden asked
out of concern, Mr. K, are you alright? The old man sighed. I'm only a shadow of my
former self.
As a person gets older, they become more prone to sickness. For me, my high blood
pressure gives me constant pain in my stomach, and then I was pushed to the ground by
one of those kidnappers yesterday, which made the pain even worse. Looks like I'll have
to find a doctor to do something about this pain.
High blood pressure? Aiden felt a slight tremble in his heart as he gently handed Dora to
her father and told everyone to wait in the living room for a moment while he ran swiftly
into the kitchen. After a moment, he took out a cake pan covered with a towel under the
puzzled gaze of the crowd. As he approached, a strong aroma wafted through the hall.
Hmm? murmured Dora as she slowly opened her eyes. With her index finger in her
mouth, she said in a half-asleep voice, What smells so nice? Aiden smiled and removed
the towel. Everyone gasped in awe when they saw the beauty of the premium apricot
carrot cake.
Viola and the other girls in the room were especially fascinated, unable to avert their
gaze. The cake, having been kept in the oven since this morning, was still warm and
fresh. Aiden cut off a small piece of the cake, blew on it to cool it down, and handed it to
Dora.
Here, have a taste of my latest creation. Dora took the slice of cake and put it directly
into her mouth. Before she even had the chance to chew, her eyes squinted closed in
delight and she exclaimed, Delicious! Dora wants more! Aiden cut another piece for
Dora's grandfather.
Mr. K, please try it. It may help lower your blood pressure. Mr. K gave a gentle smile and
took the cake, if only to humor Aiden.
He didn't take Aiden's words too seriously. After all, it's not like he had ever eaten carrot
cake before. But the moment he bit down on the cake, his eyes widened in surprise.
A wave of warmth suddenly surged through the old man's
lungs. He felt as if he had walked into a sauna. At that instant, the clotted blood in his
stomach suddenly vanished along with the pain.
Although the numbness hadn't completely disappeared, on the whole, he felt
significantly better. What is this? How can this cake be more effective than a doctor's prescription? What kind of divine cake is this? His eyes were wide open as he carefully
examined the cake in his hand like some sort of miracle medicine. Is it really that good?
wondered Anthony K. Looking at his father's and daughter's expressions, he hesitantly
took a piece of the cake and put it in his mouth.
Mmm, so soft and delicious. I'm not sure how to describe it. It's very... comforting.
After chewing a few times, Mr. K gave Aiden a pat on the back and declared, I've
traveled many places over the years and have eaten many delicacies, but I never
expected to be blown away by a carrot cake. Aiden, did you make this? Aiden nodded.
This is my newest invention, the premium apricot carrot cake.
Turning to John K., Aiden said, Since this cake is good for your health, I will give you this
first batch as a gift. If you ever need more in the future, you are welcome to visit
anytime. After packing up the rest of the cake, Aiden handed it to the old man.
Anthony K. silently sighed. Aiden, it seems that the K family continues to be in your debt.
First, you saved Dora, and now you've cured my father's illness.
If it wasn't for the fact that you're still in high school, I would have already given you a
place at my company. As he spoke, Mr. K was struck by his own words. That's right, the
young man in front of him was only a high school student.
Despite his young age, he was courageous and experienced, and his fighting skills were
extraordinary. On top of that, he was an outstanding cook and always maintained a
humble demeanor. Aiden's abilities and qualities had, without a doubt, far exceeded
those of most of the young people he had previously met.
This child's future was limitless. Aiden, I look forward to seeing what you do in the future.
If you don't have any plans after graduation, please consider coming to the K group.
There will always be a place for you there. Mr. K was determined to form a good
relationship with this talented young man. Morris and Clara, who were standing off to the
side, were brimming with excitement, but they didn't let it show on their faces.
Seeing their son's potential and how much he was valued by others, they felt honored
and proud. Mia and Viola, on the other hand, were starting to feel envious. The K group
was a well-known company in Bayside District.
Every year, countless students would squeeze their heads in and compete for a position
there, to think that the person in charge of that giant enterprise had just personally
promised Aiden a position there. In the entire Bayside District, Aiden was probably the
only person who had been given such an invitation. Despite Mr. K's high praise, Aiden
remained calm and composed.
With such a powerful system in his possession, how could he possibly trap himself in a
place as small as Bayside District for his entire life? His ambitions were bigger now, and
certainly exceeded the confines of the small county where he had been born and raised.
Aiden's sedate, almost indifferent demeanor made Mr. K think even more highly of him.
As noon approached, Mr. K, with many plans in his busy schedule, had to take his leave
earlier than he would have liked.
The usually well-behaved Dora, however, didn't want to go and started to cry. After
making all kinds of promises, Aiden finally managed to coax her into leaving with her
father. After sending them off, Aiden prepared two bowls of chicken noodle soup for Viola
and Mia.
But the two girls seemed to be disinterested in the soup today. Their eyes roamed
around the room before landing on Aiden. He saw that their eyes were watery with pent-
up emotion.
These strange gazes unnerved him. He wondered if he had accidentally added the wrong
ingredients to the soup.
