Bab 42: On Edge

"You wrecked a table?!" 

Tessa's voice rang out, loud enough to turn heads on the street. After leaving the library, the trio now walked down the street on their way back to the Sardes Hotel. By then, dusk had already begun to settle in. 

The three of them were eating the hotdogs Conrad was coerced into purchasing by Tessa. One hotdog was 10Nova, meaning he had spent 30Nova, the little amount he had left.

He didn't like it. Tessa had told him that since he was a man and the oldest of the three of them, it was his duty to take responsibility and treat them like princesses.

Normally he would have said "Like hell I will!" since both of them were far from being called princesses let alone being treated like one. But after that moment with Meliora in the library's discussion room, he gave in without issue.

Connie bit into his hotdog with deliberate slowness, attempting to ignore Tessa's dramatic reaction, but her persistence was impossible to tune out.
