After some consideration, Shibi Aburame's gaze settled on a mission.
The mission was to escort a caravan to the Grass Country Chamber of Commerce, classified as a B-rank mission with a reward of 400,000 ryo. Normally, B-rank missions wouldn't offer such high compensation, but this one seemed special.
The caravan was quite large, and the mission had been designated to allow multiple teams to accept it, hence the generous reward.
Shibi pondered for a moment and decided to take the mission.
This was the highest-paying mission available to their team. Even after splitting the reward with other teams, it was still quite lucrative.
Though Shibi himself didn't lack money, letting Satoru and the others earn more was a good idea.
"Excuse me, I'd like to accept this mission," Shibi said without expression, pointing to the mission on the list and speaking to the ninja at the management desk.
"Ah, it's Shibi-sensei. I'll process it right away," the management ninja responded promptly, making a record.
Shibi hesitated briefly and asked, "Aside from our team, have any other teams accepted this mission?"
The person in charge thought for a moment, "There should be one other team, but I don't recall which one."
"I see." Shibi nodded and turned to look at Satoru and the others.
He saw Satoru standing in the middle, dishevelled, while Uchiha Rin and Anko, who had failed to find his beauty secret, seemed to be whispering to each other.
"Uh..." Satoru's resentful gaze made Shibi feel a sudden chill. "The mission is ready. Let's get going..."
He shivered slightly as he spoke.
...
At the village gate, Satoru saw a sizable caravan from a distance.
As they approached, they heard a commotion.
Frowning, they quickened their pace and were greeted by a surprising sight.
A tall ninja in a green tight-fitting suit was repeatedly bowing to another person, apologizing and pleading. Beside him, another ninja in the same tight-fitting suit was trying to pull him away.
"Father, why are you apologizing to this kind of person? We don't need this mission."
"Kai! You don't understand. Without this mission's reward, we won't be able to survive."
After scolding the ninja and pulling him, the tall ninja bowed deeply to the leading Jonin, his head almost touching his chest.
"Please forgive us! I promise we won't make such mistakes again!"
Seeing the man's face, Satoru was stunned. "Dai-senpai?"
"Satoru, do you know that ninja?" Uchiha Rin asked, surprised.
Anko's eyes showed a hint of worry as she explained to Rin, "Rin, that's Might Dai, the father of our classmate, Might Guy."
"Oh," Rin responded, though she didn't have much impression of Guy, only finding him somewhat familiar. In truth, she rarely paid attention to weaker classmates.
At this moment, the Jonin facing Might Dai showed impatience. "Alright, alright! Just my luck to have you two in my team."
"It's just a knocked-over cargo box. We've already cleaned it up. Why do you have to be so relentless?" Might Guy finally couldn't hold back, glaring angrily at the Jonin.
"Guy!" Might Dai quickly grabbed him, anxiously saying, "They were kind enough to let us join their team. It's my fault for being clumsy. Apologize to Captain Ryo."
Guy looked aggrieved, almost on the verge of tears. "But we've already cleaned it up."
Having roughly understood the situation, Anko's eyes showed anger. "That's too much."
Satoru frowned, pondering for a moment, then stepped forward quickly.
"Hey! Are you done talking? Our caravan is about to set off. Any more delays will mess up our schedule."
Hearing the caravan leader's impatience, the Jonin named Tanai Ryo smiled apologetically. "I'm very sorry! We'll handle it right away."
Turning back to Might Dai and Guy, his expression turned to disdain and annoyance.
"You heard him. The caravan is about to set off. You two should leave before you delay the trip."
At this moment, a voice called out from behind.
"Wait!"
Tanai Ryo turned, frowning at the sight of the newcomer. Byakugan? A Hyuga ninja? What's he doing here?
Satoru smiled warmly at Might Dai and Guy, who looked confused.
"Guy, Dai-senpai, long time no see."
"You are...?" Guy's eyes widened, pointing at Satoru. "You're Hyuga Satoru! What are you doing here?"
"I'm here for the mission, too," Satoru replied with a smile.
"Guy... who is he?"
"He's Hyuga Satoru, my classmate. Father, you must have heard of him. He's the Hyuga clan's genius who awakened a second bloodline limit." Guy excitedly introduced Satoru to his father.
Although they hadn't interacted much in school, a dual-bloodline genius from a prestigious clan was memorable for everyone.
"So, it's him!" Might Dai clapped his hands together in realization.
Hearing their conversation, Tanai Ryo narrowed his eyes at Satoru. Dual bloodlines? He hadn't heard of that, but if the bowl-cut kid said they were classmates, then this guy was just a rookie.
"Hey, you said you're here for the mission, too?" Ryo squinted at Satoru.
"This is a multi-team mission. We took it too. Any issues?" Satoru stared back at him.
"Also..." He turned to Might Dai and Guy, smiling. "Dai-senpai, Guy, if this team doesn't want you, why not join ours?"
"Can we do that, Satoru?" Dai and Guy looked uncertain.
A cold glint flashed in Ryo's eyes. "Kid, do you have proof you took this mission? This is a B-rank mission. If I were your leader, I wouldn't let you cause trouble. You..."
Before he could finish, a cold voice interrupted.
"Are you teaching me how to do things?"
Ryo paused, looking towards the voice, and saw a ninja in a black cloak and sunglasses holding up a mission scroll.
"This is our mission commission. Is that proof enough? Also, I approve of them joining my team. Do you have a problem with that?"
Recognizing the newcomer, Ryo's body trembled uncontrollably, his eyes showing fear. He stammered, "Shibi-sensei, you should have said so earlier. How could I dare question you?"
Shibi Aburame was notorious in the Jonin circles, a super tough guy! Regular Jonin were no match for him, and those who fought him ended up horribly, devoured by his bugs.
Ryo looked at Satoru, wanting to cry. Why didn't you say your leader was Shibi Aburame? How could I afford to offend such a person?
Great, should I consider moving to another village now?
