"They're talking about White Fang, Kakashi's father, right?"
Anko, who had seen the same scene, had a look of concern in her eyes.
"Yes," Hyuga Satoru said, frowning slightly. "Look around."
Anko looked around and saw not just that shop but other places, too. Villagers gathered in groups, whispering as if they were despising something.
"This is worse than I thought," Anko said, her worry deepening. "What mission did White Fang abandon to cause such an outcry?"
Uchiha Rin, who had no intention of bothering Satoru today, sighed. "White Fang is a powerful man. I've always respected him. I didn't expect something like this to happen."
"Have you noticed something odd?" Satoru asked suddenly.
"What?" Rin looked at him curiously.
"They all say White Fang caused a great loss to the village by abandoning the mission, but no one can specify what that loss was."
"You mean... there's something fishy about this?" Rin frowned, deep in thought.
Despite being a battle enthusiast, she wasn't brainless. Thinking carefully, she immediately noticed several issues.
Not only were the descriptions of the loss vague, but two days ago, she passed by, and there weren't so many insults. This incident's rapid escalation within two days was abnormal.
Anko was less analytical and grew more worried. She didn't interact much with Kakashi but didn't want to see his father disgraced.
Satoru sighed, shaking his head. "Let's go. This isn't something we can get involved in."
His eyes discreetly glanced at a tree behind them. He thought, Besides, this isn't the place to discuss it.
A hundred meters away, a black-clad ninja crouched in the shadows of the tree like a statue.
Recently, Satoru noticed an ANBU monitoring him. The ninja's concealment skills were excellent; definitely an ANBU specializing in tracking. They seemed to use a secret technique to suppress their chakra flow temporarily, evading the Byakugan's detection.
The ANBU likely thought Satoru hadn't noticed them, quietly observing from the shadows. Little did they know, Satoru had detected them soon after they started.
Satoru could sense different biological magnetic fields. The sudden appearance of a Jonin-level magnetic field that stayed still was as apparent as a searchlight.
However, the ANBU hadn't entered the Hyuga compound. Monitoring Hyuga clan members was dangerous, especially in their territory. With so many Byakugan watching, being caught would undoubtedly anger the Hyuga elders.
Sarutobi Hiruzen understood this balance.
"Such a nuisance," Satoru muttered softly, glancing at the tree.
Using magnetic release to cover for his electromagnetic abilities was his strategic decision. Developing his power in secret was a long process. Being monitored was expected, but he needed to stay cautious.

Hearing the ANBU's report, Sarutobi Hiruzen's previously grim face, shadowed by the White Fang incident, relaxed into a smile.
"He eats much more than the average person, devouring thirteen bowls of ramen at once. He's quite close to Uchiha Rin. This Hyuga Satoru is really something."
Hiruzen knew Rin, a Uchiha prodigy from a wealthy family. According to the ANBU's report, Satoru was on good terms with her. It was surprising since Hyuga and Uchiha typically didn't get along.
The ANBU continued reporting, and Hiruzen's expression grew more serious.
"The Hyuga elders still haven't reached a consensus? What a bunch of stubborn fools."
Satoru was the first Hyuga in history to awaken magnetic release. In Konoha, no one had ever awakened it either. Since the Hyuga didn't marry outside the clan, Satoru's bloodline was unquestionable. This meant Satoru was... a progenitor bloodline user!
Just thinking of the term made Hiruzen's breath quicken.
Bloodline limits generally fall into two categories. One was developed by combining two types of chakras, while the other was a new ability awakened under certain conditions without prior development. The user was known as a progenitor bloodline user.
Progenitor bloodline abilities were usually hereditary, meaning Konoha could eventually have many ninjas with magnetic release.
Magnetic release was far from a useless ability like a transparent release!
Hiruzen felt a surge of anger at the thought of transparent release. Recently, the ANBU had reported that Gekkou Hayate, a student in Class B, had awakened it. He was thrilled initially.
Transparent release sounded impressive, and as a progenitor bloodline, it had potential for inheritance.
But upon learning its ability—turning invisible while stationary but losing invisibility when moving—he was dismayed.
What a useless ability! Stealth was basic ninja training. What use was stationary invisibility?
Moreover, Gekkou Hayate's health had declined due to the transparent release, halting further development.
In contrast, the magnetic release was far more powerful. According to current information, Satoru could control metal weapons, which were far more practical than the Third Kazekage's iron sand.
The Third Kazekage was called the strongest Kazekage, similar to Hiruzen's title of the strongest Hokage, a result of mutual praise. But the Kazekage's iron sand magnetic release was undeniably lethal to regular ninjas.
If this bloodline spread within the Hyuga, they would have many dual-bloodline users. But for now, the Hyuga elders hadn't reached a consensus.
Hiruzen shook his head. The Hyuga's rigid thinking was a problem. A dual-bloodline user should be a golden opportunity, but they were fixated on orthodoxy and tradition.
The Hyuga's decline was inevitable.
Hiruzen wouldn't let such a precious progenitor bloodline user be wasted. If necessary, he would pay the price to break some Hyuga traditions, ensuring the magnetic release bloodline thrived.
No price was too high compared to gaining another bloodline clan for Konoha.
Having three bloodline clans would herald unprecedented prosperity for Konoha!
But that clan wouldn't bear the Hyuga name, Hiruzen mused.
