Bab 442: Story 442: The Labyrinth of Shadows

The air in the massive chamber was thick with an unnatural stillness as the team stood before the labyrinth, its towering hedges twisting into an impossible web of paths. The faint glow of the bioluminescent moss overhead illuminated the maze, casting long, shifting shadows across the walls. Above them, the circular balconies of what seemed like an ancient amphitheater loomed, covered in gnarled roots and vines.

Rook scanned the labyrinth, his jaw tightening. “This isn’t just a maze,” he said. “It’s alive.”

“Alive?” Ghost stepped forward, his eyes narrowing as he examined the intricate pathways. “Great. Another trap waiting to spring.”

Shadow knelt beside the entrance, tracing the odd symbols carved into the stone floor. “These markings... they’re some kind of guidance system. Or a warning.” She looked up at Viper, who was clutching the ancient tome. “Does the book say anything about this place?”
