Bab 211: Daman Takeover [2]

The Maratha soldiers marched onto the southwest wall of the city. The walls were unguarded as the rebels had begun their operations inside the city. They began to scale them by propping up their wooden ladders and siege towers. 

Hundreds of Marathas poured into the city. The soldiers descended from the walls and began to clear nearby obstacles for faster entry into the city. 

Vasant decided not to use the gate of the city. The gate was small and it had a high probability of becoming a chokepoint for them. The small size made it harder for all the soldiers to enter and be safe at the same time.

Meanwhile, scaling the walls with many ladders would allow them to secure the wider range of area and allow for a safer entry than the gate.
