In the forest, a crisp wind cut through the air as a young boy, no older than four, darted around with astonishing speed. One moment he was here, the next he was ten meters away. This incredible display of agility continued, his small frame moving so quickly that he seemed to vanish and reappear like a flickering light. After repeating this feat twenty or thirty times, he finally stopped, panting slightly. Anyone watching closely would see that he hadn't truly disappeared but was moving at a speed beyond the average human's ability to track. He looked at the rising sun with a complicated expression.
"It's almost time for Dad to set sail," he murmured. With another burst of speed, he vanished again, heading toward the village.
"Loid, let's hurry up! The ship's loaded, and the captain's orders are to set sail in ten minutes!" Clark called out urgently.
"Alright, Clark. I'm ready, just give me a moment. You can head back to the ship," Loid replied.
Clark, a curly-haired, dark-skinned man, waved as he walked back to the port. Loid turned to Mira, his eyes softening.
"Well, Mira, it's time. Stay safe, and take care of yourself," Loid said gently.
"I will, Loid. And you better stay safe too," Mira replied, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
Loid laughed heartily, "DADADA! I will. You know me; of course, I will."
Mira frowned, her voice trembling. "Idiot, it's because I know you so well that I keep warning you. You're too reckless!"
Loid's expression softened even more. "Mira, I'll be fine. I'll be back before you know it. Now, where's Jaxon?"
"He went to the woods early this morning," Mira answered.
"DADADADA! That's my boy! So diligent every day, just like his father! He definitely inherited that from me!"
Mira scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Hmph, who doesn't know how lazy you are? You're the epitome of laziness!"
Loid coughed, looking slightly embarrassed. "Ahem... Mira, what are you talking about? I have to go to the port now. Let's go."
"Oh, please," Mira teased, smirking. "Remember the time you fell asleep during a raid? The crew had to carry you back to the ship!"
Loid chuckled sheepishly. "Hey, that was a tactical nap. I was conserving energy."
"And what about the time you 'accidentally' slept through your watch duty and ended up floating on a piece of driftwood?" Mira added, trying to suppress her laughter.
"Strategic repositioning," Loid defended, raising a finger. "I was scouting for enemy ships. From a... unique angle."
Mira shook her head, still laughing. "You keep telling yourself that. If it weren't for the crew, you'd probably sleep through half your battles."
"Hey, a well-rested pirate is a successful pirate," Loid said, puffing out his chest. "Besides, it's not laziness. It's energy management."
"Don't worry, they know how much you love your beauty sleep," Mira retorted. "They wouldn't want to disturb that."
Loid laughed, giving Mira a quick kiss. "Alright, alright. I'll admit, maybe I do enjoy my naps a bit too much."
"A bit?" Mira echoed, raising an eyebrow. "Loid, if napping were an art, you'd be the grandmaster."
"DADADADA! I'll wear that title with pride," Loid declared, grinning widely. "But for now, I've got a ship to catch."
As they made their way to the port, the banter continued, filling the air with laughter and light-hearted jabs. It was moments like these that made the goodbyes a little easier, knowing they'd be back to tease and laugh together again.
When they reached the port, they saw the crew ready to depart. Loid hugged Mira tightly, then looked around, searching for Jaxon, who hadn't arrived yet.
"Now where is that boy?" he wondered aloud, his voice tinged with concern.
Loid waited for a minute at the port, the crew growing anxious as the time for departure approached. Just as Loid was about to step onto the ship, disappointment and sadness etched on his face, a sudden burst of wind swept through the area.
"DAD!! Come back safe, you hear me!" Jaxon shouted, his voice carrying over the wind.
Loid turned around, his heart swelling with pride and love. There was his son, panting but determined, having pushed himself to the limit to see his father off.
The crew members gasped in amazement, seeing Jaxon arrive with the speed of the Tiger's Pounce. They whispered among themselves, impressed by the young boy's skill.
"Whoa, did you see that speed?" one crew member exclaimed, his eyes wide with astonishment. "The kid's faster than a bullet!"
"No kidding! That was the Captain's Tiger's Pounce!" another agreed, clearly impressed.
Captain Rorik, standing on the deck, couldn't help but smile with pride. "That's my teaching right there," he said, his voice filled with satisfaction.
Loid knelt down, embracing Jaxon tightly. "I will, Jaxon. I promise," Loid said, his voice choked with emotion. He stood up, giving one last look at Mira, their eyes locking in a silent promise. Then, with a final wave, he boarded the ship, the sails unfurling as it began its journey.
As the ship pulled away from the dock, Loid shouted back, "Remember, Jaxon! Keep training hard and protect your mother. And next time, I'll bring you a souvenir from every island we visit!"
Jaxon nodded fiercely, tears in his eyes but a determined smile on his face. "I will, Dad! And when you come back, I'll be even stronger!"
As the ship sailed away, the crew's chatter about Jaxon's speed filled the air, mixing with the sound of the wind and waves. Mira held Jaxon close, both of them watching until the ship disappeared from sight. Tears finally spilled from Mira's eyes, and Jaxon held her hand, squeezing it tightly.
"He'll be back, Mom. I know he will," Jaxon said, his voice filled with determination.
"Yes, he will," Mira agreed, her voice steady despite the tears. Together, they watched the horizon, holding onto hope and each other.
