Chapter 7: Situation
"Mr. Willards will take care of you," Megan said as she followed Ms. Alderei to her office.
I looked at Mr. Willards who was smiling at me. From what Megan said Mr. Willard has a big amount of shares in the company but he still chose to work as Mr. Celestino's secretary.
I was expecting the CEO's office to be grand but not like this. This is too big and too grand. The office was huge. It was massive that there is another room for the CEO's main office.
The interior was sophisticated. There are wooden finishes and the color palette is black, gold, brown, and white. The ceiling is high, probably two storey high. This is Ayers.
Mr. Celestino is already inside his private office and we stayed outside where a mini lobby and a place for two secretaries are placed.
I took a seat in front of Mr. Willards and opened my bag to give him my appointment letter. He quickly read through it and continued to tell me about my jobs and responsibilities.
"... working overtime is not encouraged. It is dangerous at night especially because we're near the woods..." He said while I am jotting down the list of do's and dont's
"... It is forbidden to go into the woods, especially during work hours. But still, you should not go to the woods."
"Noted Mr. Willards," I said, suddenly feeling overwhelmed.
He smiled at me and chuckle. "Don't be nervous. The CEO is kind."
I smiled. Slowly my heart started to beat normally and I started to feel at ease.
I sat on my rotating chair. There is a nameplate in the table that read:
Irene Loera
Executive Secretary to the CEO
I organize my things on my table. The table was huge and there are a lot of space that was empty even after I put all my things there. The truth is I don't really have that much things.
Mr. Willards is by far the most soothing person I've ever met. His smile is so assuring that I felt calm even after all that nervousness. His tone felt like a lullaby, almost like a mother's voice.
His long light hair also soothes my eyes. I want to braid them!
If I had a choice I want to stick to him like a leech all day. I don't want to face the other executives because I may pee my pants in nervousness. At least with Mr. Willards, he makes me comfortable.
"Mr. Loera? I would also like to remind you to not look into Sir Killian's eyes. He can be..." he thought about it for a moment and smiled.
"... dazzling." He continued.
"Ah yes. He is dazzling." I nodded in acknowledgment and pursed my lips.
A flash of Sir Killian, looking handsome as he look at me the other day popped up in my brain. His face is out of this world, his body is out of this world, I bet his voice is also put of this world! His image suddenly has flowers and glitters in my mind!
I blinked and shook my head.
What are you thinking about your boss Irene?
What was that thought now? I need to stay away from Sir Killian to avoid being dazzled.
As much as I would love to be dazzled. Being dazzled by my boss is a big no for me. I already had enough with my Auntie's theories—I don't want her theories to come true.
As I sat on my chair. I read and tried to memorize the lists of the important person in the company.
I don't want to get in trouble with one of them. It is better to know them so I could avoid them. The best way to not causr trouble is to avoid them.
"Mr. Willards?" I asked.
"Yes? Do you have further questions, Ms. Loera?" He asked and smiled at me.
"Aren't you a major stockholder? Then why..." I pondered.
Will I offend him if I asked why is he still working as a secretary? Was I too new to ask that question?
"I'm just doing my responsibilities, Ms. Loera. Being the CEO's secretary is my responsibility." He smiled.
I stared at him, still confused.
"I would say that it is my identity." He said.
I stared at him and nodded.
His answer just made lots of questions pop into my mind. I did not understand him at all. His answer is far from my theories.
Was he the secret child of Mr. Celestino and he is just training? What about the theory where he is the legitimate owner of the company but Mr. Celestino just stole everything from him?
Dramatic. I watched too many dramas that I often just theories about a person's life like they were some puzzles I needed to solve. I was too into watching that I became a judger of movies and tv shows. Probably judger of humans too.
I should stop watching movies and thinking that they would be better if I was the director.
I was forming new theories in my head about Mr. Willard's identity when the door shot opened. Revealing a distress Sir Killian.
Even at that stressed state he still looks perfect. How can god be this unfair?
"Good morning Sir." I greeted.
He shot a quick glance at me before looking at Mr. Willards. "We got a situation."
They stated to each other for that long I thought they became statues. Handsome statues. They were unmoving but their eyes seem to communicate. Staring felt like I was intruding so I forced my head to look away.
They're staring seems so private.
As if on cue the door of the CEO's office opened, breaking the intense starting game between the two.
"We got a situation?" Mr. Celestino asked, smiling.
"We need to go downstairs." Mr. Willards said as he got up from his seat.
My brows furrowed and my eyes glanced at each of them in confusion. What was happening? What's the situation? I did not hear Sir Killian say a single word though. And how did the CEO know?
And why am I the only one who doesn't know?
"Stay here Ms. Loera." Mr. Willards said as he went out.
"Wait! Sir! What's the situation?!" I urgently asked as I stumbled to my feet.
Why is there a situation on my first day of work?!
Sir Killian who was the one left stopped and looked at me. His light brown eyes suddenly looked darker. His lip thinner as he gritted his teeth.
"Stay here Ms. Loera." He spoke with firmness.
I froze on my spot as my eyes widen.
Why is he angry?
"Be careful and stop being clumsy." He said as he shut the door with a thud.
I blinked.
How can I stop being clumsy?
