Bab 10: Chapter 10
We began riding in the carriage towards our destination or more like where Hugo and Lesselote were going.
"So Can I ask who you guys are?".
"Oh sorry Jin..like said my name is Hugo, I am the guild master of Cadbury Trades Guild, a merchant guild in the capital Orosis. We trade just about everything legal from magical to non-magical items".
"We even have customers like the Magic Council or even various guilds, even royalty uses our trading guild to export and import products. We are the Number 1 trading guild in the country of Stella and probably in the top 3 in the continent".Lesselote Said exited.
'This girl is proud of her family business..well at least she isn't scared or thinking about the incident before'.
"Hm, you don't say". I said.
"You haven't heard of us?". Lesselote asked.
"I was living in the middle of nowhere with my master so I am not very knowledgeable on the outside world". I said to her.
Hearing this Hugo turned back as he said." Where will you stay once we get to Orosis".
"I'll figure something out". I said to him.
"Then it's decided you will stay at my house, it's big enough for you to stay without any problems". Hugo said definitely.
"Oi don't decide that on your own".
"I am not letting a boy who looks to be younger than my daughter stay on the streets especially if that boy is the one who saved my and my daughter's lives".
"You will stay with us". Lesselote said as well.
I also didn't have anywhere else to go so I caved in.
As we moved on, I finally asked the question that had been on my mind for a long time.
"Mr Hugo, you are the president of a large merchants guild...I am not that well versed in these types of matters but why are you travelling without a mage escort or a group of caravan? Why are you, the head delivering a caravan in the first place?".
Hugo visibly stiffened before he let out a sigh.
"If you don't wanna say then you don't have to". I said as I understood that he wasn't comfortable.
"No, it's ok..if anything you are the only one besides my daughter that I trust right now. The reason I was personally delivering the cargo with little to no security was because of the nature of the cargo".He said as he grew serious.
"The package itself is something that was issued by a company that makes Communication lacrimas to be delivered to the magic council branch in Osiris".
"Let me guess you wanted to stay low-key because in case the news about the package gets out then everyone will come after you".
"Yes.. however, those bandits and this Mage knew we were coming... Someone tipped them off. Only 5 people excluding you know of this plan and I have a hunch on who did it".
"The plan probably was to make me and my daughter be captured by the bandits and then make it look like we were killed by them. The Mastermind probably would kill the bandits along with us after the bandits captured us and then retrieve the package". He continued.
"So you already know who did it, what's so important that people are willing to kill you over it".I asked.
"It's not just the package, the one who is probably behind this is my Guild partner Vandire. If I die the trading company and Guild go to him..it's probably also why he targeted Lesselote..and to think I he'd do this even after I was there for him when he had nothing".
'A partner betraying you hah.. can't say I don't relate..but then again why would you trust a guy named Vandire? Warhammer doesn't exist here. I thought
"So what now?..you deliver the package and everything goes its merry way?".
"Yes and also No.. I will report this to the magic council and hand over the mage to the tune knights as for Vandire I can just kick him out so no problems there".
"Hmm well all's good then I guess". I replied.
"Yes but I am still worried about Lesselote's safety, kid you seem like a strong enough mage, would you accept a quest from me?". Hugo asked.
"Depends on the details.. I don't do anything illegal". I replied despite knowing what his request was.
"I just want you to guard Lesselote from anyone who has bad intentions until I can properly get rid of Vandire".
"Ok, I am in if Lesselote agrees".I said.
"I have no problem". She replied a bit too fast.
"Then it's decided as for the reward... I will make it worth your while". Hugo said.
I wasn't one to trust anyone outright However Sage explained that this would be helpful so I did as she directed and yes she is a girl or more so that she turned into a female during evolution.
"We are here". Hugo said as I looked around. We were currently at an entry checkpoint with a castle wall surrounding the capital city.
The city was huge with a built-up area, extending over a large, rectangular surface to the shores. Splitting the town vertically and horizontally is a series of large roads. The whole place is western in style, with its buildings being mildly reminiscent of neat Medieval ones.
We eventually passed through the town as I took in the views and eventually, we came in front of an Eastern Japanese 4-story building with a sign saying 'Cadbury and Co Trades'.
'Is this what they mean when they say East meets West in Anime'. I thought to myself.
"Ah, you must have not seen such a building it's something that dates back to our ancestors". Hugo said with pride.
"Ya, it's unique". I replied genuinely.
Several carts were driven past in and out of the large gate in front of the building.
We went in and everyone greeted Lesselote and Hugo calling Hugo as Chief or President whenever we went past them.
"Hey Hugo, what do have to do to register at the guild?". I asked.
"Well, usually you need something to prove your citizenship and a trustworthy recommendation". Hugo replied.
However, he saw me deflate and struck me on the back."Don't worry kid I am not the guild master for nothing, I will get your guild card ready.
"Wouldn't that put you in trouble"? I asked I didn't want to cause him trouble.
"Well, usually the person who recommended you will get in trouble if you do something against the guild rules, even I as its president can't and won't try to escape it, However, I am also a merchant and I know a good young man when I see one. So I don't see a problem".
"Now go out with Lesselote and explore the town, i will deliver the package to the ruined knights who are due to arrive".
Upon hearing Lesselote grabbed me by the arm and pulled me away, out and towards the town.
