Chapter 89: The Touch of the Kraken

A 68-pound solid shot had accidentally pierced the lower hull of 'King Edward', just below the waterline. As long as the warship stayed in its current windward state, there would be no issue. However, if it returned to normal sailing, seawater would surely start pouring into the ship's interior. To prevent this, the gun ports on the lower gun deck were all sealed, making the deck unsuitable for combat and leaving it devoid of combat personnel.

The ship was monitored by a comprehensive network of laws, with the captain, first mate, second mate, and navigator serving as network nodes, ready to deploy personnel as needed. One of the officers issued a command, "The lower deck near the midship has been breached! Carpenter, go plug the hole!"
