Bab 2: Chapter 2: Farfetch'd and Ability Modification!
Looking at the wing placed on his hand, Heath was stunned. Although he had a three-year friendship with Farfetch'd, he never thought that Farfetch'd would actually agree.
A surge of ecstasy quickly filled his heart. Heath told Farfetch'd to wait, and then he quickly ran to the friendly store to buy the most basic Poké Ball.
One hundred League coins, which exhausted Heath's last savings, but it was all worth it.
When Heath returned to his cart, he saw Farfetch'd standing there, curiously using its wings to touch the batter Heath had placed.
"Do you want to learn cooking from me?" Heath looked at Farfetch'd with some amusement. The sudden voice startled Farfetch'd, almost causing it to spill the batter on Heath's head.
"Farfetch'd!" Farfetch'd waved its wings, continuously squawking, seemingly complaining about being startled.

"Do you really want to become my partner, Farfetch'd?" Heath asked softly, looking at Farfetch'd.
"Farfetch'd! Farfetch'd!" Farfetch'd decisively patted its chest and then tapped the Poké Ball with its wing.
The Poké Ball emitted a light, absorbing Farfetch'd into it. Then, the Poké Ball fell to the ground, remaining quiet and still.
"A successful capture!" Heath was pleasantly surprised. It seemed that the bond between him and Farfetch'd was indeed strong, given that he had been feeding it for three years.

A strange text box suddenly appeared in front of Heath. He was taken aback and waved his hand through the text box, which floated in front of him before slowly dissipating.
Heath suddenly felt something in his pocket. He took it out and saw a delicately crafted silver crown, looking very beautiful.
"What is this?" Heath's breathing became rapid.
A Silver Crown, an item introduced in later generations of Pokémon, is simple to use: it can help a max-level Pokémon increase a random individual value to its maximum.

Heath shook his head vigorously. He didn't want to see what it felt like to face a real Groudon. Such a scenario was best left unimagined.
Though Desolate Land and similar abilities were tempting, Heath thought of another ability.

"Yes!" Heath decisively nodded. As he did, Farfetch'd, who was nudging Heath for more food, shuddered and looked around in confusion.
Heath watched Farfetch'd in surprise. If the ability change was successful, then Farfetch'd would be incredibly powerful.
Wonder Guard, exclusive to Shedinja, makes the Pokémon immune to all but super-effective moves!
As a Normal/Flying-type, Farfetch'd would only be vulnerable to Electric, Rock, and Ice-type moves.
"Farfetch'd, do you feel any different?" Heath asked while patting Farfetch'd's head.
"Farfetch'd?" Farfetch'd tilted its head in confusion, wondering if its trainer was crazy.
"Oh, and there's this." Heath took out the Silver Crown from his pocket, but how should he use it?
While Heath pondered, Farfetch'd curiously picked up the Silver Crown and bit it.
With that bite, the Silver Crown disappeared, leaving Farfetch'd looking alarmed, as if asking, 'Where did that crown go?'

Heath's mouth twitched. A random increase in Attack or Special Attack would have been nice, but it turned out to be Special Defense.
"No worries. The thicker the armor, the better." Heath comforted the bewildered Farfetch'd and headed to his current residence.
To avoid drawing attention, Heath put Farfetch'd back into its Poké Ball, but it resisted until Heath promised five eggs in tomorrow's crepes, finally making Farfetch'd reluctantly enter the Poké Ball.
"What's the big deal?" Heath couldn't help but laugh at his greedy Farfetch'd.
