Bab 50: 050: Prove Yourself

His embrace was very warm.

His chest rose and fell slightly, broad and warm.

Lai Zhiyun turned her face slightly, pressing it against his chest, listening to his strong and steady heartbeat, her breath entirely filled with his scent. In that moment, it seemed as if everything else had been blocked out, her heart, her arms, her mind, were all full of him, and she couldn't even feel tired anymore.

In the hallway, the two of them embraced quietly.

Time trickled by, and the night deepened. Around them, all was silent, with no one moving upstairs or downstairs, as if the whole world had quieted down, bringing their hearts even closer together.

They indulged themselves in their dependence on each other, warming each other.

Gradually, Lai Zhiyun's eyelids grew heavier, and her eyes fluttered as she struggled to keep them open. The embrace was too warm and comfortable; leaning against him, she almost fell asleep.

"It must be almost midnight, you should go home," he said.
