On Voidstar No. 1, there was one person at level nine, and Snakehead had heard countless stories of level nines falling to Lyra's prowess.

And the space pirates who exceeded that level? They didn't even call themselves pirates; they ruled fixed planets like independent nations, outside the control of the Alliance and the Empire.

Calm as a Queen unconcerned by her eunuch's anxieties, Lyra stated, "I'm just suspended, not expelled."

As long as the higher-ups still believed in her, she had a shot at redemption.
