Bab 194: Fibroids

Sabrina sat stiffly in the doctor's office, her fingers twisting the hem of her blouse as she glanced toward the door. She wasn't sure what was making her more anxious— the dull ache that persisted in her abdomen or Alex sitting beside her with an unyielding expression of calm. He hadn't left her side since they arrived, despite her subtle attempts to make him go.

The doctor, a middle-aged man with sharp eyes behind thin-rimmed glasses, shuffled through some papers before looking up. "We'll need to do an ultrasound scan to get a clearer picture of what's going on," he said.

Sabrina's heart rate spiked, and she swallowed the lump forming in her throat. She hated hospitals. She had always hated them since the death of her parents. The environment always made her feel exposed and vulnerable, and the only reason she was here was because she wanted Alex to leave her alone.
