Bab 45: Dinner For Two

As Delilah sped through the city streets, the streetlights blurred into streaks of light, reflecting the haste with which she maneuvered the car.

Jessica sat beside her, gnawing at her lower lip, her anxiety tangible, and her frantic voice echoed in Delilah's ears, each word fueling the weight of worry in her stomach.

"I can't believe I messed this up," Jessica murmured, her voice tight with worry. "What kind of first impression will this make?"

"Relax, Jess. Don't worry," Delilah said, her tone firm but comforting. "We'll get you home in time to pack, and you'll make it. It's just a little hiccup."

"This isn't a hiccup. This is a full-blown blunder. What if Kate hadn't called? I was going to miss my first day there and waltz in tomorrow to face my dissatisfied employers," Jessica said, scolding herself.
