Hunter pushed open the front door, completely exhausted from the day's relentless work. A marathon meeting that ran into overtime, coupled with a mountain of emails, had left him feeling like a ragdoll stuffed into a too-small suitcase.

The house was shrouded in silence, the quiet stillness a clear sign that Delilah and Jessica had already retired for the night.

He sighed, his footsteps echoing softly as he made his way through the dimly lit hallway towards his bedroom.
