Until they reached a corner.
Gu Tang quietly peeked around the corner.
He saw two formidable-looking robots ahead.
Tall and heavily armored, their steps made the ground tremble.
"Sage, what's your take?" Gu Tang asked the sage.
The sage stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Those are automatic mech units, 'Gray Bears,' outfitted with heavy armor for front-line protection of the Silvermane Guards. In combat, they signal spiders for cooperation and charge up for powerful strikes."
"Ugh, sounds troublesome," March 7th muttered, her lips curling in disdain.
Stelle also peeked out and eyed the massive armored robots.
She sneered. "Hmph... just fat clunkers."
"They're fat clunkers, but sometimes tough to deal with. My suggestion is to lure one out at a time; it'll be much easier that way," the sage advised.
"Feels like the soul games I used to play..." March 7th mused.
Hearing March 7th's musing, Dan Heng instinctively glanced upward, checking for hidden enemies.
"In other words, we need to bait them..." Gu Tang pondered, eyeing the two Gray Bear mechs.
He pointed at Bronya and Seele on the litter and said, "Hey, get the heavy one off."
The drifters removed Bronya.
Gu Tang tied a rope around Bronya's ankle and tossed her out.
Thud.
Bronya landed near one of the Gray Bear mechs.
Gray Bear Mech: "?"
It looked confused, stepping heavily toward Bronya.
Gu Tang pulled the rope, dragging Bronya back, and the Gray Bear mech followed.
Then it rounded the corner.
In the next instant, March 7th's ice froze it.
Dan Heng and Stelle's ultimates hit its face, followed by a flurry of attacks from the drifters and the Fire members.
Crunch! Bang! Thud! Clang!
The Gray Bear mech was quickly reduced to scrap.
A while later, Seele was thrown out, landing near the other Gray Bear mech.
The process was repeated smoothly.

They were battling a large group of mechs.
Though there were no tough opponents like the Gray Bears, the sheer number of enemies was troublesome.

Stelle swung her club, sending a mech flying, a satisfied grin on her face. "Phew! Finally, a good fight!"
"This is what I imagined when I fought Dan Heng... Frosty Iron Fist!" March 7th encased her fist in ice and smashed a mech.
"No, you should use your bow," Dan Heng commented from the side.
Gu Tang pointed forward. "You there! Kill it!"
"Yes, Master Gu Tang!"
The drifters and Fire members rushed forward, smashing the target Gu Tang pointed at.
"Wait, how did you guys sneak in?" a drifter asked, puzzled.
A Fire member sheepishly rubbed his nose. "Well, it just looked so fun, we wanted to try it too."

A mech charged at Bronya.
She raised her gun to shoot, but Seele had already dashed forward.
Her blue-violet figure moved like a butterfly, enchanting and deadly.
Her scythe swung, creating fleeting images of the girl that vanished in an instant.
Crunch, crunch—
The mech shattered into several pieces, scattering on the ground.
Seele rested her scythe on her shoulder and looked provocatively at Bronya. "What's the matter? That's all the famed Silvermane Guard can do?"
Bronya raised her gun and fired at Seele.
Bang!
The bullet grazed Seele's cheek, hitting a spider mech trying to ambush her.
Bronya smirked. "Hmph... just an underdog from the lower district, how pathetic."
Seele's forehead veins bulged, and she gritted her teeth.
"A rivalry born from competition, not bad..." Dan Heng mused, looking at the two, slightly envious.
"I don't think that's happening between you and Gu Tang," Stelle bluntly remarked, smashing another mech.
Soon, all the mechs were cleared.
The group moved forward.
"Sage, tell us more about this Svarog."
On the way, Gu Tang inquired.
The sage promptly replied, "Svarog appeared suddenly after the Silvermane Guards left, quickly becoming the local tyrant of the lower district. It claims to be the protector of humanity, and all unowned robots follow its commands. They've taken over the Furnace Hub, not allowing anyone to approach."
"A protector of humanity commanding robots... I've never heard of such a thing..." Bronya frowned.
Seele gave her a sidelong glance and sneered, "Hmph, looks like your builders aren't all-knowing after all."
"We can settle this fairly after we leave the Grand Mine, but for now, calm down," Gu Tang told the two.
"Hey? Looks like the path ahead is blocked," Stelle said, looking ahead.
A giant rock blocked the entrance to a tunnel.
"Damn, those mechs must've done this," Seele frowned.
"What do we do, Lady Bronya? We can't get through," a drifter asked.
The rock was nearly ten meters high, impossible to move by hand.
Seele crossed her arms. "I remember there's a machine around here specifically for breaking rocks, but it's broken."
Bronya looked at Gu Tang. "Then leave it to him. Gu Tang is good at repairing and modifying machines."
Gu Tang nodded. "Yeah, leave it to me."
He pulled out a hammer and a wrench.
Everyone watched him perform.
Bronya thought Gu Tang would fix the machine to break the rock.
March 7th and Stelle, more familiar with Gu Tang, thought he would pull out a grenade and blow up the rock.
Dan Heng, with deeper understanding, thought Gu Tang might produce a device to teleport them to the other side, which would still result in blowing up the rock.
Then, they saw Gu Tang use the hammer and wrench to repair the rock.
Clang, clang! Bang, bang!
The rock came to life and rolled away, revealing the tunnel entrance.
"Phew... Alright, let's move on," Gu Tang wiped his forehead, satisfied.
