Chapter 17

As Gojo made his way to his bike, he saw the X-Men gathered near a car parked close by. Kurt, Scott, Jean, Rogue, and Kitty were all leaning against it, waiting for him.

'Here we go,' Gojo thought, approaching them and taking off his helmet from his bike.

Scott stepped forward, his tone friendly but serious. "We need to talk, Gojo."

'They're not wasting any time,' Gojo mused, putting his helmet down. "Well, what do you want to talk about?"

Jean moved closer, her voice gentle but firm. "It's about your powers. We know you're aware of them and the implications they might bring with the situation of things right now."

Gojo raised an eyebrow at Jean's words. Rogue spoke up next, her southern drawl evident. "Look, we know you're a mutant, alright, sugah? We are too, and I don't know how or when you awoke them, but we can help you control them."

Kitty chimed in, her voice full of earnestness. "Yeah, Gojo, your powers don't have to be something to fear. We're all in this together."

Kurt nodded in agreement. "Ve can help you. Zere's no need to be alone in zis."

Gojo listened, his expression thoughtful. 'They're really laying it on thick. But they seem sincere enough.'

Scott took a step closer, extending an olive branch. "The Professor wanted to invite you to the Xavier Institute. It's a place for people like us to learn about our powers, to control them."

After a moment, Gojo sighed and took off his sunglasses. The group collectively gasped, surprise evident on their faces.

'I know his eyes were blue and sensitive to light and all, but I don't remember them being that beautiful. Is that part of his mutation?' Rogue thought.

Jean, also mesmerized by his eyes, found herself thinking, 'They're stunning… so beautiful.'

Scott, noticing Jean's reaction, felt a pang of jealousy. 'I can't even take off my glasses without causing destruction. How is this fair? But… his eyes must be part of his mutation.'

Kitty broke the silence, her voice filled with awe. "Wow, your eyes are like, really, really beautiful."

Kurt nodded. "Ja, are zey part of your mutation?"

Gojo, amused by their reactions, teased, "Aww, see this is why I don't reveal my babies. The world just can't handle such brilliance."

Rogue deadpanned, thinking, 'Idiot… but a hot idiot. Wait, what am I thinking?'

Gojo turned to Kurt, his tone now serious. "It's partially part of it."

Looking at Scott, Gojo continued, "I'm aware of my mutation and I can control my powers properly, so I don't really need the help."

As he climbed onto his bike and prepared to put his helmet on, Rogue and Jean stepped forward, both wanting to say more.

Gojo paused and added, "But I am willing to come over to that mansion of yours and see what your professor is offering."

Scott smiled, relief evident on his face. "Thank you, that's all we're asking."

Gojo nodded, putting his helmet on and starting his bike. As he drove off, he noticed Principal Darkholme watching them intently from the window of her office.

'This school just keeps getting more interesting,' he thought, feeling the weight of eyes on his back.

As Gojo drove home, the image of Principal Darkholme's intense gaze stayed with him, mingling with his thoughts about the Xavier Institute, 'Now what exactly could be going on in miss sexy blues mind, did she hear the conversation just now or was she just practicing her peeping habit, either it's not a concern to me.'

'So they think they can help me? Or maybe they just want to keep an eye on me, I wouldn't put anything past Xavier with all the diabolical things his alternate versions did in the comics. Either way, it could be interesting. And it might give me some insight into how things work here over there.'

The road ahead blurred slightly as his mind wandered back to the conversation. 'Jean was really worried how cute. And Scott… he's a leader through and through, but I could see the jealousy when I took off my glasses. Kitty and Kurt seem nice enough, but Rogue… she's got a fire in her, me likey.'

He chuckled to himself, revving the engine as he sped up. 'This is going to be fun.'

As he approached his home, Gojo let the events of the day replay in his mind, each interaction, each word. He parked his bike and removed his helmet, looking up at the sky.

'Alright, Xavier. Let's see what you've got.'

Mystique returned to the Brotherhood's hideout, allowing her form to shift back to its natural blue-skinned state. As she entered, she was immediately greeted by the sound of Pietro's arrogant bragging.

"I'm the fastest there is! No one can catch me, and that makes me the leader around here!" Pietro boasted, his tone dripping with conceit.

Mystique rolled her eyes, her thoughts dripping with disdain. 'He sounds so stupid. No wonder Magneto is always so disappointed in him. I'd much rather have his sister here, but Wanda's powers are too unstable… that's why she's kept away.'

She stepped forward, her voice cutting through Pietro's bluster. "Shut up, you idiot. If you're as fast as you claim, then why are you all always getting defeated by the X-Men?"

Pietro seethed inwardly, his pride stung. He snapped back, "It's because of that stupid red-headed telepath!"

Mystique shook her head, exasperated by his idiocy. The other members of the Brotherhood chimed in with their own excuses, each more pathetic than the last.

"It's not our fault they have that telepathic advantage," Blob mumbled.

"And those others are just lucky," Toad added, his tone defensive.

Mystique felt a headache forming from the rubbish she was hearing. She touched her temple, her patience wearing thin. "Enough! You're all embarrassing yourselves. And not just that—you're being embarrassed by humans in school as well. How useless can you be?"

Blob, looking slightly cowed, spoke up again. "It's because of that white-haired bastard."

Mystique's interest was piqued. 'White-haired?' she thought. "The Satoru kid? Tell me all you know about him."

The Brotherhood members exchanged glances before lance spoke up, "His parents died recently. He hangs out with the X-Men kids most of the time. Ever since he got back to school, he's been different… more confident."

Pietro, still smarting from Mystique's earlier rebuke, sneered, "He's a loser. Just because he's got a bit of swagger now doesn't mean he's anything special."

Mystique shot him a withering look. "Shut up, Pietro." She began to ponder the information she had just received. 'Why were the X-Men talking to him? And why is he hanging out with them now? Could he be a mutant? That would explain the shift in personality. The death of his parents might have triggered his awakening…'

Her thoughts ran deeper as she considered the implications. 'If he is a mutant, we need to know more about his powers. And if the X-Men are interested in him, that makes him a potential asset or a threat.'

She addressed the Brotherhood with a renewed focus. "From now on, keep an eye on him. I want to know everything he does and everyone he talks to."

The members of the Brotherhood nodded, a mix of curiosity and determination on their faces. Mystique's orders were clear, and the stakes were higher than ever. As they dispersed, she couldn't help but feel a growing sense of anticipation.

'This Satoru Gojo… he might be the key to tipping the balance in our favor.'
