Bab 140: Shapeshifter
"Shapeshifter?" Bella questioned with shock evident on her expression.
Alex who was driving the car nodded as he continued to look at the road in front.
"The Quileute tribe has been a mythological tribe for thousands of years, they possess the ability to turn into giant wolves. It is said that this uniqueness of theirs developed when the first cold ones or vampires arrived in these lands and threatened their wellbeing. And so when vampires get close to them, the hidden genes in their DNA get activated and they start transforming. Jacobs's transformation is an aftereffect of the Cullens being around." Alex said as he explained patiently to his sister, his words calming Bella down as she listened to him.
"So Jacob was always a shapeshifter but he just didn't have his powers activated? And the presence of the Cullens activated them?" Bella asked after Alex finished his explanation.
Alex nodded and mumbled a soft.
"That's right."
Bella nodded before being engulfed in a whirlwind of thoughts in her own head.
The rest of the drive was silent and before long they arrived at the parking lot of the Forks Highschool.
Turning the car key, The truck's engine turned off and Alex with Bella hopped off.
Looking around the two of them quickly noticed the Cullens on the other side of the parking lot and started heading toward them.
It seemed Alice had taken his car to school today as she got out of the BMW.
Arriving at the group, Alex and Bella first went to their lovers before greeting the rest of the group.
"How do you like the car? It's not too shabby though your Porsche is a bit better in my opinion." Alex said as he had his arm around Alice.
"It's great, actually I like this better than my Porsche, the Porsche just does everything so well that it's not that fun but with the BMW I can have more fun when going at high speeds," Alice said with a mischievous glint.
"You floored the pedal as soon as you got in the car didn't you," Alex asked Alice with a smile on his face.
Alice just gave a grin in response.
"Well, I did the same thing when I first got it," Alex said before he and Alice started walking toward the school once they heard the bell ring.
The students who were heading all sneaked looks at the duo.
This was the first time that the two had shown their affection so openly while heading to school.
"Are they finally a thing?"
"Damn, I wish Alice would look at me."
"Nevermind Alice, look at Alex"
Even now when he heard the last whisper that sounded strangely masculine, Alex felt the urge to shiver.
'Don't think about it' He thought as he didn't move his sight an inch, hoping to god that he didn't see the person at all so he couldn't confirm his suspicions.
Once inside the school, Alice and Alex parted ways however Alex didn't go straight to his classroom, instead opting to head to the school's administration office.
After a minute or so of walking, Alex arrived at the door and knocked two times, before opening it once he heard the voice inside tell him to come in.
Inside was the same lady who he had used daze before when he had asked for the early graduation papers.
"Hey, I'd like to ask for early graduation. When can the procedures start and how long would it take for me to get the test and finish it." Alex said not wasting any time, his eyes shining for a slight moment barely perceptible even if the lady had vampiric eyesight which she didn't.
The old lady contrary to the other times Alex had used daze, didn't look like some mind-controlled puppet.
In fact, her expression didn't change besides the fact that her mouth had curved into a smile.
"Of course, let me gather the necessary paperwork first," The woman said before turning around and rummaging through countless files.
After a brief period, she turned back and put four sheets of documentation on the table.
"You just need to fill these papers and get the autograph from your parents to complete it. After that the process should be quick enough and in about three days you will be able to get the test done and graded on the very same day. After which if you pass then you will be given your diploma by next week." The old lady said as she explained the whole process to Alex who nodded his head.
"All right, I'll be taking the papers and will return with them completed tomorrow at about the same time," Alex said as he grabbed the papers and turned around.
"All right, have a nice day!" The old woman said as she gave a wave to Alex.
Opening the door, Alex headed outside the office and then closed it once more behind him.
Starting to walk, Alex headed to his first class of the day with the graduation papers in his hand.
Once inside the classroom, Alex sat at his favorite seat by the window and started filling up the graduation papers, once the professor noticed Alex not paying attention he tried to reprimand him however a single look from Alex made the man change his mind.
And then the man proceeded to ignore Alex for the rest of the class.
'Daze sure is useful.' Alex thought to himself before continuing his work on the papers.
After about half an hour, Alex was done with them and all he needed was to get Charlie to sign them once he was back home and by next week he would have his high school diploma in his hands.
'I could graduate from college the same way but that would attract way too much attention so I'll save that off for a few years later' Alex thought nodding to himself.
With this job done, Alex could finally consider himself to be truly free.
School had been a boring obligation that he had to complete and so getting it done and out of his sight allowed Alex to breathe a sigh of relief.

Alex is finally getting out of the school system, it was a fun part to write about but now we are getting into more serious things, and having the current Alex who is a mob boss, playing the role of a high school student just doesn't make much sense.
