Bab 20: Family Meeting (5): Battle between the Dark Horses

Since the day the Long Family was formed. There has always been an end of year battle between the younger generation of the Long Family. In some occasions, the family meeting would be used to determine the next head of the Long Family.

But this year’s own is different as it will determine the next head of the Long Family and also there is a hidden agenda to it. The young master of the Long Family had the title trash due to his inability to cultivate but right now

Some of the crowd were cheering for Tian Long victory even though some were saddened by his victory. For Tian Long with his lower cultivation to defeat someone an entire stage than him shows that he is a genius.

Nodding for confirmation, “But I dont think this is all of his strength”. Hearing this, the elders were shocked. It looks like young master hid himself well. This was what they were all thinking

Heading out of the arena, Tian Long headed for his space. The next match was called soon. It was a lady's match as the two remaining lady of the top 10 are fighting; Long Bilan and Long Chaun

But Long Chaun wasn't lucky this time as Long Bilan cultivation was higher than hers. She was in peak stage of 8th level body refining realm even though she can fight levels above her, she does not have to ability to fight an entire stage as Long Bilan cultivation was peak stage of 9th level body refining realm

But it doesn't mean she would not fight, miracles happen sometimes too. “Falling Meteor Spear”. It is rare for a lady to choose spear because almost all ladies are lover of swords

“Rising Moon Slash” Long Bilan annihilating Long Chaun attack remaining half of its strength. Even though Long Chaun easily defended the remnant attack, she gave up because Long Bilan had the upper hand in the first strike so it meaningless to continue the battle.

Also both the brown haired young man and Long Yan defeated their opponent quickly too as they entered the Top 5.

“Am sure everyone is excited for the final selection. Five cultivators emerged from more than 40 cultivator; Long Yan, Long Chen, Long Ce, Tian Long and Long Bilan. This five young cultivation were able to defeat their opponent to enter the top 5.

"But this selection is different from others, as all of them would battle one another meaning that each of them as four matches. The person who has the most wins is the winner of this family meeting"

Tian Long who heard this looked at the sky and saw the sun was already setting

'Would we be able to complete this match by today'

"Because it is getting late and in order to fasten up the meeting..."

The city Lord didn't finish speaking as he pressed a button on the arena making the arena split into two with First Arena imprinted on one and Second Arena imprinted on the other.

".... we would use a double arena to maximize the time"

"The third elder would be in charge of the first arena and I would be in charge of the second arena.Now for our first contestants; First Arena, Long Bilan and Long Ce. Second Arena, Long Chen and Tian Long"

The crowd began to cheer up hearing the Second Arena contestants. Both dark horse that emerged in the family meeting are fighting against each other. Now the person who is the true dark horse would be known.

Tian Long who heard his name went to Second Arena. He had seen Long Chen battle he would say he is strong as a 9th level body refining realm.

"Tian Long, I respect you as a cultivator but if you think you can defeat me with your cultivation realm, you are dreaming" Long Chen said in a mild voice

"But we can't know if we don't try" Tian Long smiled saying this.

"Are you ready for the match". Both of them nodded their head for confirmation

"Since you are ready for this match.......Battle" The city Lord said signifying the start of the Second Arena battle.

Unsheathing the Yang Sword, Tian Long took the first strike as he attacked

"Fire essence art" He shouted as huge fireball containing sword consciousness attacked Long Chen

"Earth Dragon Fist" Long Chen shouted as he punched the ground. Unlike last time that a dragon formed from Earth element came out, the earth element surged out forming a wall of defense in front of him this time.

When Tian Long attacked landed on it, it wasn't able to destroy the earth shield as it vanished. Seeing this, Tian Long was surprised even though his attack was strong, he wasn't able to inflict any damage to Long Chen

"Throughout the beginning of my cultivation, I always trained in one battle art; Earth Dragon Fist. I don't know of the rank of this art since it was left by my Father to me. Also my father is one of your father subordinate so he disappeared when your father disappeared. Don't keep underestimating me and unleash all your strength"

'So he is related to father subordinate. Also he is in middle stage of 9th level body refining realm. It looks like I have to reveal part of my strength again'

Tian Long began to laugh "Nice... Nice.. Nice.., you are worthy of me releasing part of my strength"

After saying this, Tian Long cultivation began to increase from Early stage of Seventh Level body refining realm until it stopped at Early Stage of Eighth level body refining realm.

Most of the crowd were watching Tian Long match as it is a dark horse match. When Tian Long cultivation increased an entire stage of a realm, they were speechless. How was he able to hide his cultivation from the entire crowd because there were a lot of cultivators who are two realms stronger than him.

“Make sure you are able to stop this attack…. Fire Essence Art” Tian Long shouted as a fire ball twice the former attacked Long Chen.

“Earth Dragon Fist” Long Chen shouted. As the attack met the earth shield, they both annihilate each other.

Both attackers looked at each other as their eyes sparkled. They both laughed at the same time. It looks like they have meet someone who is able to make them unleash their strength.

Tian Long began to release a barrage of fireball to Long Chen as he too he defended the attack with the earth shield. This continued until…

…Tian Long used his movement technique; Flash step. He moved fast that for those with low cultivation it looked like he disappeared. Appearing in front of Long Chen, he continuously attacked the earth shield

“I have analysed your skill. First, you are not able to move when using the earth shield. Second, you can't use both the earth shield and the dragon strike at the same time”

“It all ends now. This was a nice battle!” Tian Long said as he destroyed the earth shield sending a small fireball with explosive power to Long Chen.

As the small fireball landed, it exploded causing dust to rise hindering the crowd and Tian Long from seeing the result of the attack.

Quickly the dust settled as Long Chen was nowhere to be found. Tian Long was shocked as his instinct felt danger making him use the Flash Step but he was no able to completely escape the attack as he was wounded on his back.

Appearing in another corner of the stage, he saw Long Chen they were looking for

“Tian Long, you are wrong. First, the Earth Dragon Fist does not contain an attack and defensive strike but a movement art. It is called Earth Slittering Art….”

“...Second, it is not compulsory i used my hand to hit the ground before i formed an attack. I can will it when i like…” Long Chen said as the earth shield and the earth dragon appeared at the same time.

“....Third, don't assume this is all my strength” Long Chen continued as he unsheathed his weapon; A broadsword.

Tian Long who listened to all this felt glad. He didn't know why, but he is glad the battle didn't end easily like that

Meanwhile, the crowd were shocked by this turn of events. A dark horse battle is never boring
