Ever since Luffy and his crew left Orange Town, nine days had passed.
In the East Blue, on a certain stretch of the sea, two rather simple wooden boats were sailing side by side.
"I think we're being too reckless."
Nami's sharp eyes were full of life, indicating she was in good spirits.
"About what?"
Luffy, sitting at the bow of another small wooden boat, eating an apple and looking out at the sea, turned his head and asked when he heard Nami's words.
"We're heading to the Grand Line without any preparations. It's really too risky."
Nami said seriously to Luffy.
"You're right, eating fruit every day isn't sustainable. Too bad Eden is injured and can't fish for us. Without meat, I don't have any energy."
Luffy swallowed the apple in one bite, glanced at Eden lying weakly on Nami's boat, and licked his lips, clearly reaching the limit of his patience from not eating meat for many days.
"It's really boring without any alcohol to drink."
Zoro lay lazily on the boat, looking half-asleep, clearly bored out of his mind.
"I tried to catch some fish for you yesterday, but my net got bitten through. Looks like we need to find a more durable and unbreakable fishing net. Our enemies are getting stronger, and even the fish in the sea are becoming more ferocious. We can't go on like this."
Eden, wrapped in bandages from head to toe, lay on the boat with his hands behind his head, looking up at the blue sky.
Occasionally, a few seagulls flew by, making him think the weather was pretty good today.
"You guys should stop worrying about food all the time. These are just minor issues."
Nami got angry and shouted at Eden, "You're injured, so don't move around unnecessarily. Yesterday, you almost got dragged into the sea by the fish. And didn't you say a few days ago that you felt like you forgot something? Have you remembered it yet?"
Eden remembered that when he was fishing yesterday, just as he was about to pull in the net, a strong wind suddenly blew, causing their wooden boats to sway left and right, and waves started to rise on the sea.
Luffy stretched his arm to help Eden hold onto the net, trying not to let the caught fish escape.
But the wind direction changed in an instant, blowing in the opposite direction. Due to this wind, Luffy's boat almost capsized. While steadying himself, he nearly dragged Eden from the other boat into the sea.
Seeing Eden about to fall into the sea, Nami quickly ran over to grab him. But because the boat was shaking too violently, she lost her balance and fell forward.
Falling forward, Nami instinctively grabbed whatever was in front of her, which happened to be Eden's pants.
Eden, having just steadied himself and focusing on pulling up the net, suddenly felt his pants loosen and was shocked: "Who's pulling down my pants!"
"Let go, woman!"
Eden was stunned to see Nami clinging to his pants.
"Idiot, if I let go, I'll fall into the sea."
Nami was telling the truth. At that moment, if she hadn't grabbed Eden's pants, she would have been thrown off the violently shaking boat and swept away by the surging waves.
So, Nami clung to Eden's pants, her body swaying left and right with the violent shaking of the boat.
Seeing that Nami had no regard for his dignity, Eden hurriedly used one hand to hold up his pants and the other to barely grasp the net. But then a sharp-toothed fish, twice the size of their boat, bit into his fishing net.
If not for Zoro timely stepping in to slash the big fish, Eden, who was holding the net with one hand, would have been dragged into the sea by the sharp-toothed fish.
The big fish that Zoro killed, with small fish caught by Eden still in its mouth, was soon carried away by the waves.
In conclusion, Eden almost got dragged into the sea while fishing, not because he was unprofessional, but because his teammates were too problematic. Luffy's help made things worse, and Nami pulling his pants at a critical moment made it nearly impossible for him to catch the fish.
And Nami had already warned Eden beforehand about the strong wind coming. Eden had made some preparations, but Luffy's eagerness to eat meat and interference made catching the fish impossible.
"I can't remember, so I stopped thinking about it. Don't worry, I'm fine."
Eden saw Luffy and the others looking at him with concern after hearing Nami's words and spoke up to prevent them from doing anything unnecessary.
In fact, on the second day after leaving Orange Town, Eden woke up feeling like he had forgotten something.
But what was it? Initially, Eden had no idea.
He still remembered his life on Earth, remembered he had transmigrated, remembered Luffy inviting him to sail, and remembered all the recent events.
It wasn't until Nami mentioned their next destination was Syrup Village that Eden realized what he had forgotten.
He had memories of Syrup Village but couldn't recall what happened there.
Eden racked his brain but could only remember the village's name and nothing about what happened there.
Initially, Eden told Luffy and Zoro he might have amnesia. Luffy suggested eating more meat, and Zoro suggested drinking more alcohol to jog his memory.
It wasn't that Luffy and Zoro didn't care about Eden. When they first heard he had amnesia, Luffy panicked, running around the boat like Eden was about to die. Zoro's face also turned serious.
But after some questioning, they realized Eden hadn't forgotten anything. He remembered everything that happened with them, so how could that be amnesia?
So, Luffy and Zoro thought Eden was playing a cruel joke on them and started playfully wrestling with him on the boat.
Eden couldn't reveal he was a transmigrator who knew what would happen in this world, so no matter how he explained it to Luffy and Zoro, they couldn't understand what he had forgotten.
The three of them couldn't convince each other and ended up wrestling on the boat, getting into a heated argument until Nami couldn't stand it anymore and gave each of them a punch to stop the quarrel.
As for Nami, when she found out Eden had amnesia, her first question was if he still remembered owing her money. Eden thought he could use amnesia as an excuse to erase his debt.
But Nami pulled out an IOU with Eden's thumbprint, telling him that even if he had amnesia, the 450 million Berries he owed her were undeniable because the evidence was clear.
Eden looked at the IOU in Nami's hand, shocked. He had no idea when he had given her such an IOU.
Later, Eden learned that on the afternoon they left Orange Town, Nami had written the IOU while he was unconscious and had him place his thumbprint on it while changing his bandages.
Thus, Eden unknowingly owed Nami a huge debt.
The most frustrating part for Eden was when he sought justice from Luffy and Zoro, who only made things worse.
"Turns out you're rich, Eden. Can you lend me some money to buy meat?"
Luffy, learning that Eden owed Nami over 400 million Berries, thought Eden was wealthy and shamelessly planned to ask him for money to buy meat.
Eden was speechless. If he really owed Nami that much money, from another perspective, he could indeed be considered rich.
But the problem was, he never borrowed that much from Nami. He hadn't received a single Berry from her; instead, she had stolen a few hundred Berries from him.
And Luffy, without a care, told Eden it made sense he had offered to pay Nami for sewing his hat, as he was already so wealthy.
Hearing Luffy's words, Eden's face darkened.
Zoro, lying on the boat, didn't notice Eden's darkened face and said thoughtfully, "Seems we won't have to worry about not having enough to drink anymore. Having so much money really makes one envious."
At that moment, Eden wanted to take off his shoes and use them to beat Luffy and Zoro into the sea to feed the fish.
Seeing Luffy so easily fooled by Nami, Eden decided to stop arguing with her.
When Nami turned around, holding a 10,000 Berry note and the IOU with his thumbprint, and gave him a mischievous yet cute smile, Eden's heart skipped a beat. He vaguely remembered seeing Nami like this before.
But where had he seen her? Eden couldn't remember.
After carefully reviewing his memories, Eden realized something terrifying: his memories of this world were becoming fuzzy, and some people in his memories were just shadows with no clear features.
This realization made Eden break out in a cold sweat. Nami thought it was because of his severe injuries and came over with concern.
Seeing Nami's worried face, Eden vaguely remembered that Nami's hometown was Cocoyasi Village, but he couldn't recall anything specific about the village, which felt wrong. Why were his memories breaking off at the most crucial points?
Why was this happening?
Eden sat on the boat, deep in thought. He remembered his head had been hit several times recently.
When he first went to sea with Luffy, he got hit by several pieces of gold during the whirlpool incident. In Orange Town, he got hit by five large pieces of debris on the back of his head. When they left Orange Town, Zoro accidentally hit his head while carrying him.
And Nami had also punched his head a few times. Eden wondered if the frequent head injuries had caused these memory gaps.
