Chapter Seventeen

Lionel's POV

As I approached the door, I knocked lightly, hoping for a swift response.

"I'm coming," came the muffled reply from inside.

Seconds ticked by, feeling like an eternity, and impatience got the better of me. I knocked again, this time more forcefully. As the echo of my knock faded, the door swung open to reveal a man I didn't recognize.

"What the heck, man? Are you deaf? She told you she's coming," the guy snapped, his tone laced with irritation.

Ignoring him completely, I pushed my way into the apartment, my anger simmering just beneath the surface. The guy quickly stepped in front of me, blocking my path. "Please, I don't have time for games. Get out of my face. I don't have business with you. Where's Lucia?" I demanded, my patience wearing thin.
