As Kevin tucked Elysia into bed, he noticed the curiosity shimmering in her eyes. "Kevin, earlier you mentioned something about it being time for me to awaken as a Herrscher. What was this plan? You've always forbidden me from using my Herrscher powers."
Kevin paused for a moment, a gentle smile forming on his lips. "I remember, Elysia. You possess the ability to utilize the strings of fate—a rare and powerful skill. I believe that with our soul bond, we could use these strings to cut the connection between a Herrscher and the Honkai."
Elysia's eyes widened in realization, a spark of excitement lighting up her face. "You mean… if we do that, the Honkai wouldn't be able to control the Herrscher anymore?"
Kevin nodded, his expression turning serious. "Exactly. Herrschers experience a sharp personality change when they transform, driven by the Honkai's influence. But if we can sever that connection, they might retain their true selves and not harm the innocent."
Elysia's excitement bubbled over as she sat up slightly, her hand reaching out to grasp his. "Kevin, this could be the key to freeing them from the Honkai's influence! We could save so many people… so many lives."
Kevin's heart swelled with affection as he saw the hope and determination in her eyes. He leaned down, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face. "That's the plan. It's risky, but if we succeed, it could change everything."
Elysia pulled him down into a kiss, her lips warm and soft against his and rubbed her cheeks aginst him showing how much happy she is.
Kevin wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close, and for a moment, the weight of the world melted away.
"We'll make it work, Kevin." Elysia said with conviction.
He smiled, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Me too. But for now, let's get some rest. You have a mission in the morning, and I've applied for a short holiday. I'll be here when you return."
Elysia's eyes softened at his words, and she leaned in to steal one last kiss. "I'll hold you to that."
The next morning, Kevin was at the door, seeing Elysia off on her mission. She turned back to him, her usual bright smile gracing her lips despite the challenges ahead. "Don't slack off while I'm gone!" she teased, her voice filled with affection.
Kevin chuckled, leaning down to kiss her one more time. "I'll keep up with my training. Be safe, Elysia."
With a final smile and one kiss, Elysia left, and Kevin turned his attention to his training.
His thoughts kept drifting back to the plan they had discussed the night before.
It was a dangerous move—one that Elysia had hacked into the system after her sacrifice in the canon. With Elysia's death in the original timeline, Mobius and Mei had been able to find the connection to the Imaginary Tree. But in this timeline, there was still hope to change that tragic outcome.
But I had to cut the stings of fate between Herrscher and honkai.
After finishing his training, Kevin decided it was time to use the Authority Upgrade Card he had obtained. Sitting down, he accessed the system, which immediately presented him with a prompt:
**"Do you wish to use the Authority Card? (Yes/No)"**
Without hesitation, Kevin clicked "Yes." Instantly, his stigma began to glow with a deep pink color, and a notification appeared before him:
**"Congratulations! Authority Upgrade initiated…"**
Kevin felt a surge of power course through him as the card's effects took hold. His abilities were evolving, becoming more refined and potent.
He stared at the notification in disbelief as the system cheerfully congratulated him.
"Congratulations, Host! Your Authority of Origin has upgraded to its maximum potential.
500,000 system points have been deducted to unlock all special abilities of Origin."
Kevin's eyes narrowed. "What?! You took my precious points! Those are for buying items, not… whatever this is!" he fumed internally, frustration bubbling up.
The system's response was swift and indifferent. "Host, this is a random upgrade. I am incapable of altering it."
Kevin sighed, his shoulders slumping in dejection. "Great, just great. I've been saving those points…" he muttered, but then curiosity got the better of him. "So, what are these new powers?"
The system listed them off one by one, and with each power, Kevin's frustration slowly morphed into awe:
< Authority of Origin > now includes:
- **Fate Manipulation**: Allows the user to alter fate using the strings of fate.
- **Karmic Thread**: The ability to see and manipulate the connections between others in the form of strings, to some extent.
- **Arc**: Transforms wishes into power.
- **Severance**: An enhanced form of durability negation, capable of severing
anything.
- **Chaotic Fate**: An ability which alters the outcome. It can even negate the effect of the opponent's attack.
- **Desired Result**: Purposefully causes an intended result on a small scale.
Kevin's eyes widened as he read through the abilities, and soon, a grin spread across his face. "Such awesome abilities…!" he whispered, rolling around in his bed with excitement, unable to contain his glee. "This is incredible!"
Still buzzing with excitement, Kevin decided to test his new powers. He quickly left his room and went to find Mei and Vill-V.
As he approached them, he focused on the **Karmic Thread** ability, and instantly, he could see glowing threads connecting him to the some people.
He then went towards mei lab where he sense two threads connecting with vill-v and mei.
The thread linking him to Mei was a deep red, pulsing with energy, while the thread to Vill-V was a mixture of blue with a hint of red.
"These colors… could they represent their feelings?" Kevin mused, studying the threads intently. "And I can sense their emotions too… this is fascinating."
His musings were interrupted as Vill-V noticed him and waved enthusiastically. "Kevin! Just in time. The new Divine Key is complete!" she called out, clearly proud of her work.
Kevin approached her, "Divine Key? What's it called?" he asked, though he already had a good idea.
Vill-V grinned, holding up the device. "I call this one the **Oath of Judah**. It has the ability to nullify Honkai energy." She then launched into an excited explanation of its capabilities, her eyes gleaming with pride.
Kevin nodded along, though his thoughts were still partly on the threads he could see. "That's incredible, Vill-V. You've outdone yourself."
As Vill-V continued her explanation, Kevin couldn't help but notice the thread connecting her to Mei. It had a yellow hue—something he hadn't seen before.
"Yellow… what could that mean?" he wondered, but before he could ponder further, he approached Mei, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"Kevin, Vill-V is watching," Mei whispered, a hint of embarrassment coloring her cheeks.
Kevin chuckled, pulling her closer. "Let her watch. I haven't held you in bed for a month, Mei." His tone was teasing, but there was genuine warmth in his eyes as he looked down at her.
Mei's blush deepened, and she glanced at Vill-V, who was watching their interaction with an almost mischievous interest. "Kevin… we can't… not here." Mei whispered, her voice tinged with nervousness.
Leaning down, Kevin whispered in Mei's ear, his voice taking on a devilish tone. "Why not? Let's do something fun in your workshop." His words sent a shiver of excitement through Mei, her heart pounding in her chest.
Kevin noticed that the red thread connecting them was glowing even more brightly. "So red signifies… love, or maybe something deeper," he concluded, his eyes shifting back to Vill-V. The yellow thread between them still puzzled him, but he had a suspicion.
"Is she… jealous?" he wondered, a small smile playing on his lips. The line also shifted when he talked with vill-v.
Mei, trying to regain her composure, cleared her throat. "Kevin… your combat suit will be ready in about five days. So, you'll have to wait a little longer." Her voice was softer, clearly flustered by their earlier exchange.
Kevin smiled, leaning down to kiss her cheek. "I'll wait as long as it takes, Mei." He released her, watching as she stepped back, her face still slightly red.
As Mei turned to leave, Vill-V sighed dramatically. "Damn. I need a boyfriend too," she muttered, jealousy and frustration clear in her tone.
Kevin chuckled at her words, but his mind was still racing with thoughts of his new abilities.
