Bab 19: The Golden Apple
Raka also noticed four other women, but they had tragically perished.
"That..."
Observing the dark surroundings illuminated only by torchlight, he noticed a chair made from neatly arranged human bones.
"Could it be..."
Remembering an episode from the Goblin Slayer anime, Raka confirmed his suspicion.
*BANG*
Kicking the bone chair until it shattered, he discovered a hidden hole behind it.
"Time Stop."
For safety, Raka activated Time Stop to avoid any sudden attacks from within the hole.
Entering the hole, he saw six young Goblins huddled against the wall with terrified expressions.
"There are no good Goblins."
Remembering the tragic fate of the women in the cave, Raka discarded any pity in his heart. With a dagger in hand, he gave them a quick and painless death.
Deactivating Time Stop, the six Goblin children collapsed to the ground, blood pouring from their necks, without understanding what had happened.
"Taking a life... It's not a pleasant sensation."
Staring at his hands, which had taken lives, Raka's mood became complicated. He worried that sooner or later, he would end up killing a human.
It's a certainty!
"Sigh... That's a problem for my future self to handle."
Sighing in frustration, Raka stopped worrying about problems that hadn't occurred yet.
Leaving the hole, he began to examine the cave.
There wasn't much to be found, considering Goblins aren't a race capable of crafting.
The good news was, Raka found food consisting of fruits and dried meat.
Besides food, he also found weapons like a spear and a sword.
"A sword, huh... Too bad my Job is Thief, and I'm not suited for using swords."
Holding the sword with both hands, Raka could feel its considerable weight.
In the real world, he had bought a Kusanagi Sword forged from real iron on an online shop. So, he knew that real swords are heavy and not light like they appear in anime.
"Before sleeping, let's bury them."
Noticing the stench from some of the women's bodies that had begun to decompose, Raka used the sword to dig a hole.
Even though he was very hungry, he couldn't enjoy his meal with five naked female corpses lying in front of him. Only a psychopath could eat without caring about such a sight.
"Ouch... My back..."
After burying the five women's bodies, Raka's back hurt.
Lack of physical activity and a habit of lazing around in bed while working had left his body not as fit as it was in high school.
"Hah Hah Hah... When was the last time I dug? I forgot."
Once again, Raka realized how weak his physical condition was.
After that, he ate the dried meat eagerly, even though it tasted bland without any seasoning.

With his stomach full, sleepiness made his eyelids feel heavy.

Today, he had fled from thousands of horny female Orcs. To preserve his chastity for his future wife, he had resolutely used Time Alter three times in a row.
His suffering didn't stop there. While relaxing by a lake, a Brutal Alligator bit off his legs. Although Raka managed to heal his legs thanks to Reversal Time, it was impossible not to experience psychological trauma.
Finally, he had raided a Goblin lair and annihilated them without giving them a chance to fight back. This was all possible because he used Time Stop effectively.
These three incidents had exhausted Raka both physically and mentally.

Standing up, Raka walked to the wall, pulled down his pants, and answered nature's call.

Smelling the pungent odor of ammonia, he quickly finished his business and left after putting his pants back on.
While eating leftover food in the Goblin lair, he was startled by an interface that suddenly appeared when he touched a golden apple.

In the Bible, apples are often associated with sin and temptation. It is said that Adam and Eve ate the forbidden apple from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Eden, leading to their expulsion from paradise.
Of course, the Golden Apple in Raka's hands wasn't the mythical Golden Apple that granted immortality, but he was quite satisfied to increase his attributes by five points each.
"Let's eat it quickly before anything unwanted happens."
Opening his mouth, Raka bit into the Golden Apple and chewed.
