Bab 79: The Butcher's Banquet

Victor stood at the edge of the forest, looking down at the village of Ravensbrook. The moon hung high in the sky, casting a pale light over the quiet, eerie scene. Ravensbrook was nestled in a valley, surrounded by dense woods, its cobblestone streets winding through clusters of old stone houses. The village, however, wasn't normal. Armed patrols roamed the streets, men and women dressed like assassins, but their garb wasn't that of the Crimson Veil.

The houses of Ravensbrook were ancient, their weathered facades covered in creeping ivy and moss. The rooftops were steeply pitched, with chimneys that spewed thin trails of smoke into the night air. Narrow alleyways snaked between the buildings, creating a labyrinthine network perfect for hiding secrets. The village square, visible from Victor's vantage point, was dominated by a large, imposing church, its spire reaching toward the heavens.
