The room was dark save for a solitary flickering light, which cast a macabre shadow on Kite's body as she knelt before the Mistress. Her head dropped low in respect.

"Mistress," she said, her voice faltering slightly. "I've come with bad news. Moss has been... eliminated.

The Mistress stayed immobile, her back to Kite, her silence a powerful force in the room.

"Yes, Kite. I am already aware of Moss's demise." She replied.

Kite's eyes widened in surprise, but she quickly regained her composure, keeping his head bowed. "Of course, Mistress," she said, suppressing the urge to inquire how she had come by this knowledge. "I apologize for disturbing you with information you already possess."

"Do not apologize, Kite," the Mistress replied. "You have done your duty and reported to me as ordered. However, I am curious. Why did he decide to wait behind after getting what he was supposed to?"
