Natasha could not get over what she was seeing. She had seen some strange things around Lake City, especially when she became old enough to work in clubs and bars. They paid better than restaurants.
She knew it was not a job for everyone and hid the information from her parents because they would have objected.
When the other people on scholarships asked her about her work, she concealed the information about those part-time jobs. She did not want to have to introduce them to club work, so she encouraged those who wanted part-time jobs to go to restaurants.
She was confident because she trusted her instincts and knew how to stay out of trouble. Many of the other girls she worked with could not say the same because they did not know how to pretend to see anything.
