"Hey, aren't you going to step out and say hi to your mother?" Charles glanced at the driver's seat where his third son sat, tipping his head toward the entrance. "Come on."

Slater smiled, his eyes squinting slightly. "I need to go somewhere."

"Somewhere?"

"Work."

"You don't have work."

"Dad, I was on leave because of a traumatic incident. But that doesn't mean I don't have other obligations."

"Like?"

"Like… keeping myself fresh? I have a facial session!"

Charles's face twitched as he studied Slater's face. Although he didn't want to admit it, Slater did have good skin. However, even Penny didn't do things like this. Allison, Jessa, and even Nina had to drag Penny just to come with them. But here was Slater, having an appointment, and never missing a single session at the derma clinic.
