It took her a while to come out of the bathroom again. She quietly checked the master bedroom door, and Ning Xiaofei bit her lip, finally mustering the courage to walk over and gently knock on his door.

"Husband, may I come in?"

Thump!

The response was a dull thud—something had been thrown against the door.

Not daring to provoke him further, Ning Xiaofei bit her lip and reluctantly retreated to the guest room.

Her lower back ached and she curled up on the bed, pulling a pillow into her arms and curling into a ball under the covers.

The spring night was chilly, and it was a special time for her. She couldn't warm up for a long time and was worried about Mu Tianye, not falling asleep until late into the night.

When she woke up the next day, her hands and feet were still cold. Despite feeling lazy all over and wanting to just stay in bed, she forced herself to get up and change into a black suit.

Thinking of Mu Tianye, she tiptoed to the door and listened, but heard no sound.
