　　There was a shuddering, shrieking moment in my head, I lashed out without thought, a whip-crack of power that should have stunned him silly, made him a puppet to my whims… and the power shattered against a barrier I could neither see, nor sense.

　　Who the hell had taught this man-

　　He turned to face me then, still smiling, unaware of the attack I was waging on his mind, and I forced my features to stern indifference, but I was quivering with hate for this man and everything he stood for.

　　Yet, either he didn't notice my tension, or he didn't care. He looked at me and tipped his head towards my mate.

　　"This is supposed to be something new," he said with a husky roll to the words that made me want to crawl down his throat and remove his vocal chords. "A fantasy and the fact that she's a Queen of the wolves… that's the one I want."
