Life is like a game of chess, with crisscrossing moves within the board and many spectators outside of it. Without your knowledge, you may already have been watched by many people, but the spectators remain silent, not interfering with your fate until it is time for them to make their moves. Each move must be played step by step, each matter must be handled one by one.
Tang Ye felt that this was the best portrayal of his life. For instance, now, he did not know the One-Eyebrowed Abbot, but it seemed the abbot was already familiar with him. He knew the abbot was involved because of the Ancient Buddha, but he had not met the One-Eyebrowed Abbot before. However, now it seemed the abbot had been waiting for him.
The little monk, upon seeing the One-Eyebrowed Abbot, ran back puffing with anger, pointing at Tang Ye and complaining, "Master, you've seen it yourself, Tang Ye is truly impudent and insolent. We cannot tolerate him in our peaceful Buddhist haven—send him away!"
