ASHLEY’s POV

When I woke up, it took me a moment to remember that I was not in the couch anymore with Vernon. Maybe he carried me last night here in his room.

The sun was shining through the bay window and I sat up quickly. As my eyes adjusted, I was convinced that I was going mad because of the sight in front of me.

“Uno?” I said quietly and rubbed my eyes again.

“Hi.” He said back. He really was here. “Good morning.”

“What the hell are you doing here?” I snapped. My heart ached already. He was sitting in the chair with his elbows on his knees.

“Ashley, we need to talk...” He said, the bags under his eyes prominent behind those specs.

“Have you just been watching me sleep?” I asked.

“No, of course not. I just came in here a few minutes ago.” He answered. Liar.
