Bab 5: Roaming Around The Village
(Main Protagonist's Pov)
"Bianca it's time to leave now, come down here."
"Coming mom!" replied Bianca
"Okay Abel, I must go now." she continued.
"Okay, have a good day."
She put the book in the shelf and left the room. I wondered what should I do and then I had decided to go downstairs as well since I was getting bored.
Dad seemed to be getting ready again and I wondered what he was upto this time.
"Dad, where are you going?"
"Ah yes, I have some business here in Whealbrook so I want you to stay over here for a while until I come back, okay?"
"I also want to go with you dad!"
"No Abel, please understand and stay here. Sancho, please look after Abel for me, will ya?" asked Dad
"Sure, no problem."
"Alright then, I am going now."
He went outside after getting ready and I was left behind for a while with Mr Sancho.
"I must say, you remind of her. But I wonder why she had to....*sob* " said Mr Sancho, while crying like a kid.
"Eh? He is weird....And who is he talking about? Anyway, I want to go outside but..."
"Hm? You want something? Oh! I think you must be a little hungry perhaps? In that case, I should prepare something for you to enjoy and fill your stomach." said Mr Sancho.
"Oh yes! I feel hungry, please make something for me and I will wait upstairs." I replied.
Of course that was a pure lie to get out of the house without letting Mr Sancho notice me. This was the perfect time.
"Okay then, I will call you when I prepare something. Meanwhile you can do whatever you want but don't go outside."
"Sure."
I felt a little bad for him since he was entrusted to take care of me.
He went to the kitchen to prepare something to eat and I took the opportunity as I sneaked through the main door to get outside.
"Whew! I'm finally outside!"
I was finally outside but...
"But what should I do-"
I saw my dad heading towards a certain direction.
"Hmm, Just a little peek will not be a problem I think? I am curious to know what dad is going to do. It won't hurt to peek a little bit perhaps." I spoke to myself.
"On second thought, I don't think it is a great idea at all." I gave up on the idea immediately I mumbled those words.
"Perhaps I should roam around for a bit. I may find something interesting." I thought.
"Yes, I have decided now. I should roam around the village now."
"Brrrrrr...f-f-f....cold....it's cold! Why summer has not came yet even though it's season for summer! I wonder what is happening....bbrrrr... So cold!"
I saw a man, complaining about the cold atmosphere. It certainly was strange that the summer hadn't came yet even though it should be summer right now. But it didn't looked like it since the cold atmosphere conquered. I was wondering for a while but then I gave up on such thoughts and prepared myself to look around.
I had started roaming around the village and also had conversations with the villagers. I heard about my dad so much from them. I heard something from an old woman and old man that my dad came to this village when I was just a little kid back then. They also mentioned that my dad was no ordinary person and they seemed to wonder what kind of life my dad lived before he came to the Whealbrook.
I didn't understand what they exactly meant by this but it seems like even they don't know much about my dad.
I went near the Inn and somehow a voice caught my attention. I peeked through the window at the hall where the receptionist was. I saw Bianca and her mother, talking to the receptionist.
"Sorry Ms, but I haven't seen that guy yet." said receptionist.
"Oh, is that so? I hope that person is fine. I sent him to collect some herbs but he hasn't been back since then. I wanted to ask Pankraz but he is busy at this moment and I don't think anyone else would go to the cave to look for that person." said Bianca's mother while she looked worried.
"I hope if someone capable, would go to the cave..." She continued.
I jumped from the wooden carton boxes since I was done watching through the window.
"Hm, she looked worried. I hope that person is alright. Oh! How about I go and look for him!" I exclaimed as my fist slammed on my right palm as I had made my decision to go to the cave.
"Not to mention, I can hold my own against monsters since I was taught by my dad on how to defend myself." I continued.
But...
"Where is the cave?" I muttered.
I had started looking around the village and finally arrived at the cave entrance.
"So, this is the cave."
"Hey kid." a voice called me and when I looked who was it then
"Huh? You are..."
"I am guarding this cave but I'm not strict so you can pass through here. However, kept in mind that I won't take any responsibility for helping anyone at this cave if you expect me to do so. Take it as a warning and if you are afraid then you can stay outside of this cave."
His words looked harsh but his eyes were telling me that he is just giving the warning with no ill intentions.
"Okay then, I'm heading inside now."
He didn't stopped me but he was still watching me as I was going inside. After that, I could not longer see the guard staring me since I was a little far from the entrance.
"Now then, I wonder where the man could be who was looking for herbs. Perhaps I should search the area until I reach the depths of this cave."
