Karl's baby-blue eyes widened slightly as he stared at Adrian. For a moment, he didn't say anything, his lips pressing into a thin line. Then, slowly, he nodded, his messy hair falling into his face.
"That... sounds fair," Karl muttered, his voice filled with hesitation. "At least we'll be making things right in the end."
Adrian gave a small nod, his expression calm but firm. "It's the only way we can move forward," he said.
Karl ran a hand through his hair again, this time more gently, as if trying to calm himself. "I just hope she doesn't find out before we fix it... because if she does..." He trailed off, not daring to finish the thought.
Adrian's jaw tightened, but he didn't respond. Both of them knew Ruby well enough to realize that if she found out now, the consequences wouldn't be pleasant.
