Bab 72: Through My Window

Madison shook herself from her reverie and stood up from the garden bench. Wald had left to attend to something urgent. The cool night air nipped at her skin as she made her way back into the castle. Her footsteps echoed in the empty corridors as she climbed the winding stairs to her chambers.

As she passed Wald's door, she paused. A soft light spilled from beneath it. She hesitated, her hand hovering over the doorknob. But no, they were together just a moment ago and it was too late for a visit. With a sigh, she continued to her own room.

Once inside, Madison couldn't shake the restlessness that plagued her. She paced back and forth, her mind whirling with thoughts of the week's events and the challenges that lay ahead. The ministers' reactions to her proposal still rang in her ears.
