After that week, Moon somehow found herself frequently visiting the spot where she and Terra had watched the moon together. It became such a frequent occurrence that she even told the spirits to install a small hammock in one of the tree branches. That night, the moon was a single sliver in the sky, and everything around her was a warm dark. A candle was glowing dimly next to her as Moon lay in the hammock and sipped peach tea.
What a good day today was to lay a few traps.
Traps for Venus, that was. Fire could only be fought with fire.
On cue, there were footsteps behind her, and someone reached out a hand to caress her neck. Moon didn't look up from her peach tea until someone tilted her head back. Dull red eyes studied her, paired with shaggy hair with different colored strands that were speckled with red, peach, tan, and orange. Venus.
Moon was tempted to brush those hands off, but for now, she tried to keep her calm and not do anything that could put her in danger. The only thing dangerous about Venus was that he was utterly unhinged, and there were no spirits with her right now. She doubted she could win against him even if they were - planets shared more or less equal powers.
"It's been a while, Venus," Moon said instead. Venus smiled and brought his lips close to hers, but Moon raised her ceramic mug between them.
"Moon. Be mine." Venus said. He took a strand of her dark, curly hair and kissed it. Moon didn't move.
"I already said no, Venus." She replied instead. Venus smirked.
"We all know you're tired of being a moon for Earth. It must get boring. So, I'm telling you. Be mine. My moon." Venus prompted.
"I'm not-" Moon started, but Venus was already blathering on.
"Become a moon for me, and -"
"And what? Become one of no other moons, get treated like feces, and eventually dumped like you've done with everyone else? No thanks, Venus." Moon said, coldly, a bit annoyed. Venus's eyes studied her.
"Terra will never love you. Not fully at least. You know that, right?"
Moon met his eyes silently, and said, "Yes, but she can still leave the barrier with me." Venus smiled wider. "But what about me, Moon? I could do much more with you than simply leaving the barrier."
"I' 'm serious about this," Moon said firmly. Venu's smile slowly faded as he looked into her eyes, and his face became serious.
"I was as well. But I suppose I only have one course of action now."
Moon bristled. "If you do anything to Terra I will hunt you down myself."
Venus smiled. His hands moved off her neck, and he stepped back into the shadows of night.
"My dear, even being hunted you would be an honor."
Moon, angered, held up two of her fingers and whistled. Instantly, a plume of water surged out of the water and spiraled towards Venus - the arms, heads, and necks of water spirits reaching out. In return, multiple sparks of fire flew out of his hands, forming a circle around Moona and Venus. The water spirits instantly stopped a few inches from the fire, hissing. Venus smiled and then snapped his fingers, blew her a kiss, and disappeared in a burst of sparks.
"Be on your guard, Moon."
