and Steve caressed her hair, "I thought I lost you for a moment, Peggy...I was terrified...Gods, I love you so damn much...", tears still streaking down his face as he kissed her hard and desperately.
"I'm alright, Steve... I'm alright...", Peggy whispered as he hugged her hard.
"Sorry, I just... I really thought she killed you.", Steve said.
"Eris?", Peggy asked. "Oh, yeah, we sent her running for Rome. Those RAF planes launched a bunch of rockets that hit her in the chest, pretty much same place
I got her before; and I also got her in the eye so she's probably having to at least lick her wounds.", Steve replied.
Peggy smiled softly, "They did that for me...I am Captain Britain...God, we did it, well, not quite did it, but we gave her what's what.", sighing tiredly,
"The CO better give us a well-deserved break.".
"I don't know...", Steve chuckled. "I get the feeling it might not be long.
I know General Clark and Field Marshal Alexander might be wanting us for that 'upcoming' operation.".
"Might at least be a full month at least... not really much they could do, if you remember. If we want to go on leave, they can't really force us. They don't have anything big enough to really do that.", Peggy chuckled.
Steve smiled, "Oh, yeah, that's for sure. Here, are you okay to get up?", and Peggy nodded, "Yeah, I think so.
I'm just tired. At least Christmas is soon. That gotta be a good reason.
Heck, maybe the RAF would put in a good word for us.", getting up gingerly with Steve staying close, but letting her get up on her own, knowing that she's stubborn.
Steve chuckled, "You think so?", and Peggy looked at him with a smile, "We saved the 5th Army from getting annihilated by Eris, gave the
RAF their part to be useful with cannons and such, and we swam a long way here from our vacation spot and fought Eris.
Speaking of which, let's head back. If I know Colonel Phillips, if he was here, he would want me to see if I can control this fire power I got...".
"Yeah... we're going to need to have Erskine probably to come over here to talk with him about that.
That... wasn't normal.", Steve said. "As opposed to us being 50 feet or you being practically Superman?", Peggy raised an eyebrow.
Steve chuckled, "Touche.", and Peggy giggled as they got on their way, seeing that the forest fire had smoked itself out, with the 5th Army making their way around to meet with the naval boats, with everybody cheering for them as the couple headed to the ocean to swim back down the shoreline, not wanting to get caught by the German lines.
Steve himself was both relieved yet his nerves are shot for he would never forget the moment of
Peggy falling into the fire, and all that followed to her awakening...He knew that he's gonna have nightmares...
For the first time, he felt scared about leaving Peggy alone if a railgun or Eris herself kills him, unknowing that Peggy felt the same, though she will have nightmares of Steve falling in the fire, not her.
After they got back far back down to safety, to Allied ground, for the next few days, Peggy went to practice how to turn on and turn off her fire power, discovering that she can create fireballs, fight fire with fire, and even protect people against her, making a person in close contact impervious to fire as well.
Dr. Erskine via radio has told her that it's very possible, with enough firepower, Peggy might even fly as well.
The COs argued with Colonel Phillips, but naturally, with tons of points given out, the couple was happily given some leave as it's almost
Christmas, anyway, and two days later, it's finally Christmas, but unfortunately, it wasn't quite Christmas for Steve as he was in a deep nightmare, scaring Peggy, trying to wake him up.
"Steve, Steve, wake up!", Peggy tried to shake him awake as he finally woke up in a cold sweat.
"You were having a nightmare...", she sighed as she tried calming him down. He wiped his head as he nodded.
"Thanks, Peggy, I... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you like that... what time is it?", Steve asked. "Still night...
Christmas morning is only in an hour or so. Not exactly the way anyone would want to spend it.", Peggy said.
"Well, I doubt many of our allies want to spend Christmas in a foxhole getting shelled or sniped but that's sadly the reality of war.", Steve shook his head as she nodded in agreement.
It was terrible this war was being fought but it had to in order to keep the forces of totalitarianism from winning and subjugating all under the jackboot of fascism.
Peggy sighed deeply, "At least they're not alone. They got comrades, and they got mementos of their families, and more.".
Steve nodded, "That's so true...They all know about us...We are giving them hope.
After all, many soldiers told their accounts on radio about us.
If hope gets the soldiers in the foxholes a few hours free from being shelled or sniped today, then it's actually a miracle...A miracle we would all use if for a short time.".
Peggy smiled warmly, "Steve, you're my miracle.", caressing his blonde hair, and Steve smiled,
"You're my miracle too, Peggy.", before kissing her, and Peggy purred happily as she kissed him back.
She moaned as Steve tongue-kissed her, and pinned him back as she returned the gesture, making
Steve growl as he grabbed her ass, soon finding that his morning wood is back, just like clockwork.
Peggy grinned, "Time to leave that nightmare, and make our Christmas, luv.", tugging his sleeved shirt upwards.
"Really, after what just happened?", Steve couldn't help but chuckle as Peggy nodded. "Especially after what just happened.
We both need this, but you could use it even more after the nightmare you had...", she kissed his cheek.
"Should... should I tell you what it was about?", Steve asked. Peggy smiled softly, caressing his cheek, "You can tell me anything, but I am not pushing you
