Bab 237: Chapter 237: Ghost and Life

In the magic system, emotions originate from the mind, and both positive and negative emotions have different effects on magic.

Andy was curious, if he uncovered this secret, would he be able to get a glimpse of the essence of magic power?

"Aha!"

Mr Carbone laughed a little and explained, "Pouring red pigment and black pigment into water will of course cause different effects. Mr. Collins, the mind affects the magic, and the magic also affects the mind in turn."

Andy nodded his head in understanding.

Although Mr Carbone had not answered the answer Andy wanted to hear, the nature of magic power was originally a thousand-year-old unsolved mystery in the magic world, and Andy hadn't placed much hope on it in the first place.

Moreover, Andy found that Mr Carl Carbone was very suitable to be a professor, his explanation of magic was easy to understand, and even academic fools could understand it.

It would be great if Mr. Carbone could come to Hogwarts to teach.

"Actually, I know what you want to ask."

Mr. Carbone continued, "As the study of magic gets deeper and deeper, we have discovered that the mind, the emotions, and even the thinking, all affect the casting of magic."

"These concepts actually originate from our thoughts, or ... from our soul."

"Well ... quite a few ghosts are living at Hogwarts, right?"

Andy nodded his head in a hurry; as if he had caught something in his mind, but that idea flickered away.

It made Andy impatient to hear Mr Carbone's next answer.

"Have you ever seen a ghost that can cast a spell?" Mr. Carbone asked with a smile.

"No!" Andy shook his head.

Having said that, Andy knew that the residual soul of Voldemort could actually use magic.

"But ghosts do possess magic!"

Mr. Carbone said, "Without magic, ghosts wouldn't be able to exist in the world."

"If you've ever interacted with a ghost, you'll realize that ghosts have memories, they can think, they can talk, they're even happy, angry, and sad ..."

"Other than not having a body, ghosts appear as if there is no difference between them and living people."

Andy frowned slightly, pondering the difference between ghosts and living people in his mind - just from the point of view of memories, emotions, and thinking, there really didn't seem to be any difference between ghosts and living people.

And this also proved Mr Carbone's previous words.

The concepts of mind, thinking, emotions, and memory all originate from our souls.

Hermione was also contemplating intently about the difference between a ghost and a living person.

"Yes, there is no difference!"

Mr. Carbone laughed, "It's just that ... they're dead. Yes, what a ghost loses is life. And life is what matters to the living."

That feeling came back again.

Andy seemed to grasp something, but then again, he seemed to grasp nothing.

Life ...

Compared to the ghost, although Voldemort only had a remnant of his soul left, he wasn't really considered dead in the true sense of the word.

The Horcrux prevented that.

Voldemort had only lost his body, and he was now in a state between life and death - that was a very special state.

Voldemort has not lost his life ...

So is that why he can use magic?

But what is life?

Physical vitality?

Apparently not, because Voldemort had lost his body.

Does a wizard's ability to cast spells have anything to do with life?

Professor Flitwick laughed at this, "Well, Cal. These questions are still too early for them."

"Filius, I don't think so."

Mr. Carbone said in a serious tone, "Mr. Collins is an excellent wizard, even if I don't say anything, he will soon explore this field."

Andy hurriedly spoke at his words, "Yes, Professor Flitwick, I would like to know the answer to this question."

Mr. Carbone glanced at Professor Flitwick smugly before saying, "Then I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you, Mr. Collins."

"Because I don't know the exact answer to that question, either."

Andy: "..."

I've got my pants down and this is what you show me?

But I have to say, today's topic has given Andy a new perspective on magic and spells.

Life!

This attribute that wasn't on the system panel, how did it affect magic?

The ghost and the remnant of Voldemort's soul ... is likewise a topic worth studying.

Mr. Carbone said, "The reason your Professor Flitwick stopped me is because he was worried that my words would pique your interest."

"There have been too many great wizards throughout history who have spent time and energy on this subject and ended up with nothing."

"Ghosts possess magic power but are unable to use it, what an interesting research topic!"

After a pause, Mr. Carbone continued, "Actually, I have a guess: it's the magic power that takes the place of life and sustains the ghost's existence."

"Of course, this is just a bit of my personal opinion, so you guys can just listen to it casually, but don't take it as a supreme statement. Hahaha--"

Magic replaces life and sustains the existence of ghosts?

It wasn't that there wasn't this possibility!

If life was related to the ability to cast spells, Andy thought that there should at least be the attribute 'life' on the system panel.

Since life couldn't be added, it meant that life wasn't related to spell-casting ability.

Just ...

Andy felt that his brain was mush.

It was too confusing!

"Thank you for explaining, Mr. Carbone," Hermione said while still elbowing Andy.

"Thanks!"

Andy snapped back and joked, "Honestly, I'm much more confused now than I was before."

"Hahaha-"

Mr. Carbone laughed out loud, "So what your professor said is right, Collins ... don't study this subject lightly."

Professor Flitwick was a bit helpless, "Carl, you can leave me no small trouble."

Mr. Carbone waved his hand, "Even if I don't say it, this Collins kid will study this sooner or later. It's better to say it now than for him to study it alone later,"

"The nature of magic power ... Hey! I kind of realized that's simply not a field that wizards can get involved in."

"Perhaps, only God can know everything."

Andy listened quietly.

Speaking of magic ...

In fact, on the Chinese side, magic power is known as the innate air, which is the basic essence that constitutes all things in heaven and earth.

Composition of all things in heaven and earth, well ... in the West it's called magic!

The difference between the two sides is only because of the difference in culture, which leads to the difference in the name.

But there is a point ...

The Chinese side believes that the innate air, that is, the magic is born from nothingness, turning into the essence of the human body in the mother's womb.

The reason why the wizard can use magic is that their acquired energy reverts to the innate so that the wizard has 'the basic essence that constitutes all things in heaven and earth'.

That is the innate energy (magic power).

If we speculate according to this theory ... magic power is life?

Andy had a head full of question marks.
