Bab 41: -41- Tower of the Hand (2)

Red Keep, Maegor's Holdfast, Queen's Chamber.

Jamie stood by the bedside, looking at Cersei who was still asleep, unconsciously curling his lips.

The soft silk sheets even better outlined the beautiful curves of the queen.

He carefully reached out to lightly touch Cersei's foot outside the blanket.

"Good morning, Your Grace."

Cersei's eyelashes trembled, her legs stretched out, her beautiful feet flexed.

After a brief confusion, a smile filled Cersei's eyes. "Good morning, Ser Jaime."

Cersei took the robe Jamie handed her and wrapped it around her body, then sat down at the dressing table. "I feel you're a bit different from usual. Am I mistaken?"

Jamie's calm heart suddenly stirred, but he remained composed on the surface. "Perhaps it's your cheerful mood?"

Cersei gave Jamie a sideways glance. "Tell me, what's the matter?"

Jamie walked behind Cersei, placing his hands on her shoulders. "Princess Myrcella has been hoping you could teach her braiding. I feel today's a good time for it."

Cersei lifted her head slightly, meeting Jamie's gaze, a smile playing on her lips. "Alright, for your sake, we'll go later."

Red Keep, Tower of the Hand.

Tap-tap~

Gallen walked with a normal rhythm, but his mind was analyzing the conversation with Varys just now.

Varys was a meticulous player, and his little birds were everywhere.

In Gallen's memories before crossing, Varys was the most deeply hidden, with great ambitions alongside Illyrio.

Gallen's foot had already stepped into the game, and he had his own political stance.

Although Varys's words were very friendly, Gallen himself faced various people and spoke with various purposeful words, so he instinctively guarded against the words of power players.

The first thing to confirm was that Varys had done work beneficial to Gallen in front of Jon Arryn, showing kindness.

In the game of thrones, there is no kindness for no reason. What was Varys's purpose?

Maybe it's because Gallen's House was a loyal House of House Targaryen, so if Varys is aiming to restore the Iron Throne for House Targaryen, he wanted to recruit him to his side?

Gallen directly vetoed this possibility.

Gallen thought he could develop a bit sneakily before the plot officially unfolded, but he felt very passive since he stepped into King's Landing. Every small move of the bug guys would use up a lot of Gallen's energy.

Gallen felt he needed to change his mentality and actively plan some things.

Gallen walked out of the stairs and reached the second floor.

Gallen stopped, glanced left and right, and saw a golden-robed figure walking towards him.

"Good day, my Lord. Please follow me."

Gallen raised his eyebrows and nodded slightly.

The lax defense outside and the apparent division between floors had channels of communication between them. The Tower of the Hand had its own unique operating mechanism.

The golden-robed figure led Gallen to a door without any special markings and stopped.

The golden-robed figure silently opened the door and stood aside.

In the study.

Gallen entered and saw an old man buried in a pile of documents.

Gallen walked a few steps closer to the desk, saluting respectfully. "Good day, Lord Arryn."

Jon Arryn raised his head from the pile of documents, looked at Gallen with cloudy eyes, and glanced at him. "I'll be busy for a while. I don't like to be disturbed. Help yourself. Make yourself comfortable, there's also something to drink in the liquor cabinet."

Jon Arryn seemed like a kind old man chatting with his nephew. His tone was affectionate.

After speaking, Jon's attention returned to the pile of documents.

Gallen still couldn't get used to the habit of treating alcohol as an ordinary drink and could drink it anytime and anywhere.

Gallen pulled a chair that was slanted in front of the desk and sat down, closing his eyes to rest.

After a while, Jon Arryn put down the documents in his hand, slammed them shut, and put them aside with a thud.

Hearing the sound, Gallen opened his eyes and met Jon Arryn's gaze.

"I'm getting old, not as diligent as before... Sorry to keep you waiting, young lord, you're very patient."

Lord Arryn was very kind, and Gallen modestly shook his head, but he raised his vigilance.

Jon Arryn leaned back against the back of the chair, opening his mouth. "As the guardian of the Vale, I regret your cousin's experience."

"As an apology, I can help you find an outstanding young man for your cousin and let her start over."

Gallen spoke respectfully, "Thank you for your kindness, my lord. But my cousin wants to rest for a while."

"It's alright, she's still young. When she's rested, let me know. There are still many outstanding young people in the Vale."

Gallen nodded again to express his gratitude.

"I can feel your anger, a small merchant of Gull Town, bold enough to insult a noble lady,"

Jon Arryn paused, asking, "Did the blood of that merchant's family quench your anger?"

Gallen seemed puzzled, "Whose blood?"

"The Wolfnir Meyer family, need I remind you further?"

The kindly old man vanished.
