Chapter 103: What If a God Were a Child?

"I've never seen anything like this before," Fors shook her head.

"Are there really such utensils? Miss 'Fate', do you know how to use them?" Audrey asked curiously.

After Derrick also shook his head, Alice placed her last hope on Alger.

Alger didn't immediately answer the question.

It wasn't that he couldn't recognize the chopsticks Alice had shown, but precisely because he did recognize them that he felt confused. He had already determined that Alice was an ancient deity who had been resurrected, having lost her powers and most of her memories, but... what connection did elves have with "Fate"? Perhaps she had just seen chopsticks and randomly remembered something? After all, if she was a resurrected ancient deity, it was indeed possible that she was familiar with elves...

Suppressing his doubts, Alger pondered before speaking: "If I'm not mistaken, these should be 'chopsticks'."

"'Chopsticks'," Alice repeated the word, equating it with the chopsticks in her memory. "Mr. 'Hanged Man', do you know where these utensils called chopsticks come from?"

"...They come from the Western Continent and are used by elves," Alger replied.

"Western Continent? Elves?" Alice confirmed.

Alger nodded.

This made Alice furrow her brow. After all, the concept of "Eastern ancient country" was deeply ingrained. Alice muttered to herself, "Western Continent... west? But shouldn't it be east... wait, it seems it should indeed be in the west..."

She struggled to pull out a world map and the outline of the Northern Continent from the depths of her memory, gradually overlapping the Northern Continent with the North American continent she remembered.

If that was the case, it did seem that it should be in the west...

Unlike the others who didn't understand what was happening, Klein quickly grasped Alice's meaning.

— If the layout of this world hadn't changed, that familiar homeland they knew should indeed be in the west.

Alice quickly realized that the Tarot Club wasn't the best place to ponder these questions. She looked at Audrey and changed the subject with a light laugh: "The use of chopsticks... Miss 'Justice', would you like to hear the theoretical explanation or the practical one?"

"What do you mean by theoretical?" Audrey's attention was indeed drawn.

Alice blinked twice and fluently recited, "Chopsticks utilize the principle of leverage, specifically the principle of effort leverage. The fulcrum is at the tiger's mouth, and the point of force application is where the index finger and thumb grip the chopsticks..."

Audrey's mouth opened wider and wider, her gaze gradually becoming dazed. Seeing that Alice seemed intent on continuing, Klein, controlling the world, coughed twice.

Warned, Alice pouted, abandoning the idea of reciting the physics knowledge that gave her a headache to the other Tarot Club members.

Audrey breathed a sigh of relief and tremblingly asked, "Then what about the practical explanation?"

"You just pick things up with them," Alice blinked.

"Huh?" Audrey felt like she hadn't quite understood.

"It's like... um, you just pick up food like this..." Alice tried to demonstrate with her hands.

Audrey nodded, seeming to understand but not quite. Alger, unable to bear watching, spoke up: "Everyone, you can try to collect the recipe for the 'Wind-favored' potion. I will give you an absolutely satisfactory reward."

After Alger announced the task, Derrick also raised his hand and somewhat nervously said:

"I've been assigned a task by the guards to explore that half-ruined temple I mentioned before in the near future, um, the one with the 'Fallen Creator'."

"The leader in charge of this operation is Elder Lovia the 'Shepherd'.

"Do you have any advice?"

"Hiss," Alice drew in a sharp breath and gave Derrick a heartfelt warning with a solemn face, "Run away quickly."

The Fool, still maintaining his image, couldn't help but feel envious of Alice.

After a brief silence, Alger looked at Derrick and said in a low, steady voice:

"You've provided too little information for us to give useful advice.

"We don't know what else exists in that half-ruined temple besides the peculiar statue of the 'True Creator', also known as the 'Fallen Creator', so we naturally can't analyze the corresponding situations."

While answering Derrick's question, Alger couldn't help but ponder internally.

Alice's behavior was just like that of a real child, willful and emotional. If this childlike innocence occurred in a truly well-protected young girl, it wouldn't be strange, but for a resurrected deity...

Was this deity a child before becoming a god?

This was a hypothesis that made Alger break out in a cold sweat just thinking about it.

If a god were an immature child, what would happen? Would They be displeased if a believer stepped into the church with their left foot first, causing them to trip and die at the threshold? No, They might even choose a death method They liked for the believer...

At least, the Fool didn't seem to be like Miss "Fate"...

Recalling the fact that "The World" knew Alice and had warned her twice, Alger suddenly suspected that "The World" had been sent by the Fool to babysit.

No, he shouldn't speculate about deities like this...

As Alger worried about his future, Derrick began to describe the situation inside the temple:

"Besides the statue, there are many incomplete murals there, and terrible evil spirits used to roam about, but they've already been eliminated by the exploration team led by two elders from the Six-member Council...

"I haven't seen those murals myself, but they reportedly depict prophecies of the coming apocalypse and the 'Fallen Creator' saving believers, as well as corresponding bloody sacrificial rituals...

"In the corner of one mural, there are strange characters derived from the Giant language. After rough deciphering, several elders believe they mean:

"Rose Redemption.

"This might have been the codename of the mural's creator, or possibly the name of the organization that built that temple and the surrounding city-state.

"According to the Chief's judgment, these murals are at least a thousand years old.

"I mean a thousand years as you understand it. Um, but I can't be entirely certain. In the Silver City, we consider periods of frequent and intense lightning as daytime, and periods of less frequent and milder lightning as night. One cycle is a day, and the four seasons only exist in books. So, we can't grasp the exact number of days; only the Chief can confirm.

"The terrifying monsters in the city-state ruins and that half-ruined temple have been preliminarily cleared out. Our task this time is to explore the underground part of the temple.

"Do you have any suggestions? Based on your understanding of the 'Fallen Creator', what should I be aware of?"
