The shopkeeper returned to the counter, pretending to look down at the accounts, but in reality, he was stealthily observing the two customers. Seeing them eat with oil gleaming around their mouths, the Shopkeeper couldn't hold back and involuntarily swallowed his saliva again.

He knew his master forbade him from eating the food of these individuals for fear they might have poisoned it. Yet as both had finished the portions for three people with no ill effects, he felt some regret at not having tasted the crab roe noodles.

The Shopkeeper watched for a long while and, seizing the moment when the two bowed their heads to drink their soup, he quietly went upstairs.

"Young Master Qin, the rain has stopped!" the coachman suddenly exclaimed with joy as he looked outside the inn.
