Bab 41: Waiting for a Friend Who Would Never Come

Grunt No. 702, No. 704, and No. 711 found themselves in a spacious dome building just behind the finish line arch. It was almost barren, with only a few long metal tables scattered about, but the atmosphere inside was refreshingly ventilated, with ample lighting that bathed the interior in a comforting glow.

As they took a moment to catch their breath, each of them held a water bottle, courtesy of the scientists who had overseen the orientation. They had been eagerly drinking from the bottles, feeling relieved to hydrate after completing the arduous obstacle course.

This was the first time they had ever had a drink since joining Max Brain's grunt army. They realized that they had not felt that thirsty to begin with and were just enjoying the fresh mineral water as it was. Maybe it had something to do with their GBS suit or even their grunt enchantments.
